Re: New here, coming out finally

Don't cut your hair yet! 5FU and Folfox usually don't effect hair, and I've been on Folfiri and still have hair (a lot less but enough so I'll take it). With so many other changes, still looking like yourself can help a lot emotionally. Candies really help me and peppermints have helped with nausea ...

Re: Skin discoloration of hands (not palms) and arms from Xelox

I have lots of "age" spots from 5FU. At least that's what they look like! It's like the drug brought them all up to the surface of my skin, mostly hands, arms and face.

Re: Colonoscopy during treatment for metastatic disease

My oncologist said no colonoscopy because I'm on Avastin. There's a risk of bleeding. I see that you're on it too. Could that be one of the reasons they don't want you to have one now?

Re: Love the people God has given you..............

I am so sorry for your loss. You and I must be kindred spirits. My mom was diagnosed with colon cancer not even a week ago and had surgery to remove a sizable tumor. Surgery seemed to go well but she was very tired and her body was just shutting down. She passed away on Saturday morning. The heartac...

Well, this was a shock. First me, now Mom

My mom hasn't been feeling well for a week or two. First throwing up then continued diarrhea. Wasn't going away really so my sister finally took her in to doctor who sent her immediately to ER. After CT and colonoscopy, confirmed colon cancer in the cecum, the exact same location as mine was! Before...

Re: Lung Mets?

I have at least 10 small mets all between 2 and 9mm. I've been on Folfiri + Avastin since April and do very well on it. Nothing has grown and one larger one has cavitation. And CEA dropping every month. Right now I'm a chemo-for-lifer but one never knows. Holding on for new treatments. I'm not a can...

Re: 5FU pump

Mine is like a cartridge that attaches to the pump inside the fanny pack. I never notice the noise unless I listen for it. I keep the pack loose on my waist so I can swing it easily, like when I switch sides when in bed. It's under my big duvet so never hear it!

Re: VANITY hair issue help from you ladies please

I use Nioxin shampoo and conditioner. It seems to help with the thinning. Also couldn't live without Infinity hair fibers. You shake it onto your scalp. Makes huge difference in appearance. I think a shorter hair style will help a lot too.
