Re: SGOT and SGPT Levels

I get really crazy too when I look at my bloodwork. My biliruben was a little higher than my previous tests but that is right after my chemo and I too panick and think I have liver problems. I think I am going crazy with this stupid disease. I think I am better off not looking at my bloodwork number...

Re: Support groups

Thanks Allen. I know how you feel going to the onc office. I have to take an Ativan just to get through the doors. It really is mentally horrible dealing with this disease but I won't let it stop me from living. Just need somewhere to vent where other people "get it".

Re: Support groups

Thanks for all the suggestions. I hopefully might have found a local group that I can give a try thanks to someone who reached out to me. I don't mind the older people but just want some people around my age who might be dealing with similar issues with having teenage children. It is hard and I am s...

Support groups

I think I need to find a support group in my area. I was treated at MSKCC but I don't live in NY. I am having a little bit of a hard time since my treatment ended about 3 weeks ago and my family says I am driving them crazy!!! How do you go about finding support in your local area? I have looked onl...

Re: Xeloda and dying your hair

I just finished 12 treatments of folfox and the whole time I was crazy because I didn't dye my hair. I thought on chemo you couldn't. I was getting so gray! Then at my follow up appointment with my onc I asked him if it was now ok to dye my hair and he said oh you could have dye it on chemo! I was s...

Re: No longer a dirty little secret?

Not exactly the place where you would expect to see it mentioned but I guess any awareness anywhere is a good thing! I always get so mad when I see the pink ribbons being sold everywhere, not that breast cancer isn't important but I have never seen any colon cancer awareness posted anywhere!

Feels great to get things done. It helps so much mentally to be productive. Makes me feel like I have some sort of control with this damn disease.

Re: thinking of asking to be taken off oxi

I made it through 9 treatments with the oxi. As soon as the numbness and tingling lasted the whole 2 weeks between treatments my onc stopped it. I was worried that I wouldnt get the full benefit. Thank god we stopped it my fingers and feet are getting progressively worse. You know your body and if y...

Re: average age at diagnosis

My Grandmother had colon cancer in her mid 70's. She is now 89 and doing great. She doesn't even own a computer! Me not so lucky to get colon cancer at 40. I have seen so many young people throughout my treatment. When I had my surgery I figured I would be the youngest there but I was so wrong there...

Re: Done with 12 rounds of Folfox...listen to your body!

It feels good to be done. I also just finished my 12 rounds the end of June. I made it through 9 with the oxy. I still have really bad tingling and numbness in my finger tips and feet. I was hesitant about stopping at 9 rounds but my onc said it will get worse and he was right. Congratulations and g...
