I have 3 more days (the boosts) and I am ready for this particular side effect to end. I never experienced the diarhea too much, but do notice that you are doing 28 sessions. Just wonde...

Re: Rectal Cancer: Habr-Gama Watch and Wait Strategy to Avoid Surgery

Surgeon gave me option of seeing if extra time would allow radiation to continue working and perhaps make my fat plane more distinct. But she also warned me it isn’t likely (after chemo and chemoradiation). Surgery will be quickly scheduled if nothing changed. As my cousin, who is an experienced ra...

Re: Rectal Cancer: Habr-Gama Watch and Wait Strategy to Avoid Surgery

Thanks for info and suggestion. My Rad Onc office emailed me back and said “all side effects are gone 2 weeks after radiation ends.” Ha! So my hopes to get active again if/when my treatment is over (and I have a handle on the continence situation) is a pipe dream then. Hi lakeswim glad you are feel...

Re: Rectal Cancer: Habr-Gama Watch and Wait Strategy to Avoid Surgery

My experience with "Watch and Wait" is only with the Habr-Gama protocol for rectal cancer patients who show a complete clinical response to chemo radiation. I believe that Dr. Habr-Gama has published strict guidelines for "complete clinical response" and that she developed these...

Re: Rectal Cancer: Habr-Gama Watch and Wait Strategy to Avoid Surgery

Trial, chemo before chemo/rad, chemo after chemo/rad, we shall see result's before the end of this year. Will be interesting. We have result's chemo/rad than 6 rounds of Folfox. In this trial they are giving 8 rounds of Folfox or 6 rounds of CapeOX. Wonder if anybody on this board is part of that t...

Re: Rectal Cancer: Habr-Gama Watch and Wait Strategy to Avoid Surgery

Hi Annie50, my surgeon definitely recommended I take mop up chemo as soon as she told me I'd had a CCR. In fact I had my first infusion seven days later. She has since told me there is plenty of data out there showing that patients who have mop up chemo have lower recurrence rates than those who do...
