Re: Interval Cancer?

I also had a precancerous polyp (tubulovillous adenoma). I had surgery, then a colonoscopy 7 months later, and just had another colonoscopy one year from the last. My doctor just told me that he is now comfortable putting me on a 2 year schedule after 2 clean scopes. I personally think 3 years would...

Re: recurrent stage 0

I had a stage 0 and did a colon resection. In hindsight glad I did. They were able to do full pathology, including lymph nodes. I'm 35 and didn't want to worry about it (not that anyone is ever guaranteed anything). I know we took the most aggressive approach to best protect my future. It's a tough ...

Re: LAR --any good outcomes?

I had LAR w/coloanal anastamosis in March 2012. I did not have radiation to the area. About 3-4 months after reversal, life seemed pretty normal. If I have off days of the bathroom it's because I got off my metamucil regime or ate something I probably should have avoided....For the most part I reall...

Re: 5 days post reversal

I can say I honestly felt like I took a turn for the better about 3 months post reversal. The first three months were really touch and go. I took Percocet to slow the vowels down, Imodium before I went out and had to watch what I ate. After that things settled down. I got in a routine of taking Meta...

Re: High Grade Dysplasia

Hi Laurie, I also had a tubulovillous adenoma w/high grade dysplasia discovered Feb 2012. Mine was in the rectosigmoid and also resected. It was 9x6 cm. My dr is at Sloan Kettering in NYC. It was recommended I have a follow up colonoscopy 1 year later. Because we wanted to try and get pregnant, my d...

Re: Ileo reversal w/o radiation?

Hi, I did not have radiation. My mass according to the biospies showed no dysplasia, no cancer, etc. After my LAR surgery, when the whole thing was removed there were areas of high grade dysplasia so I was considered carcinoma in-situ or Stage 0. This did not require radiation or chemo. I had my LAR...

Follow up stage 0

Just curious for anyone with stage 0, what kind of follow up are you doing? I am almost a year out and my dr recommends yearly colonoscopy, abdominal and pelvic ultrasound, yearly skin check, pap smear and mammogram. Just curious what anyone else is doing? Thanks!

Re: Reversals worth it?

I know everyone is different, but for me YES! YES! YES! I have a coloanal anastomosis. As some of the others have said, it was dicey the first few months and a real pain. It was pretty miserable. Thankfully CC friends had some great tips and suggestions to get through that time. I had my reversal in...

Re: Fast growing polyps

Hi. My doctor said that the rate of missing small polyps during colonoscopy can be quite high, and varies from doctor to doctor. Meaning, some are just missed for various reasons (they are small, maybe colon cleanse wasn't perfect, could be at strange angle, etc). This is why my doctor recommends a ...

Re: Ileostomy reversal coming up....

Hi. I had ULAR in March, reversal in May. Like many of the others have said, the first few weeks were hell but did eventually improve. I think the first day home I must have gone 50 times.... But the hospital mistakenly sent me home on Colace so I think that exacerbated the problem. Those first few ...

Re: Not Lynch... why does everyone feel a need to find a re

Just curious for those who are young, have tested Lynch negative and have no family history... Did your genetcists and drs just chalk it up to sporadic and bad luck?? My IHC staining came back normal, which they said was 95% accurate and that more than likely, I do not have lynch. They said if I rea...

Never hungry/never full

This is a random question and just wondering if anyone else experiences this. A little background- I had a tubulovillous aneoma with high grade dysplasia removed via LAR in march, ostomy reversed in may. I have noticed, even a bit prior to my surgeries, I never really feel hungry or full. Like I nev...

Re: Lynch testing?

Hi, it is my understanding, but may be wrong, that they usually only test cancerous polyps or large polyps which display advanced histology (villous features, etc) for MSI and IHC. I had a large advanced polyp, but the doctor had to specifically request the IHC testing because it is only automatical...

Re: Clustering

Hi! I am about 6 mo post LAR, about 3.5 mo post reversal. I have def had some good and some bad days, and everyone says, w/time it's getting better. I recently had a follow up w/my GI who felt I wasn't managing my bowels as best I could. He had me start taking probiotics and change my metamucil to p...
