Re: Genetic Testing

I had genetic testing here in Glasgow. It sounds the same as you are getting, they gave me a questionnaire and asked for family history. My mum had had lots of polyps removed, and her mum had died of lung cancer. After completing the questionnaire they got tissue from the lab to test my tumour. My m...

Given the costs of these drugs they don't get to the trial stage unless there is a rationale that says the drug has potential. These days they seem to measure it all, QOL, PFS and OS, ...

Re: 2014 member update -- for all of us--please post!

I don't want to be insensitive to others who are having a tough time, however when I was having (many) bleak moments after surgery I liked reading the upbeat posts that gave me hope for a better future, so here goes: Today is one year since I finished chemo. What a difference a year makes. Last year...

Re: Colectomy + hysterectomy?

My surgery was hysterectomy for fibroids then they found the colon tumour that they did a right ascending hemicholectomy for. I opted for a sub-total (kept the cervix). Also had bilateral oopherectomy. Guess it may be best to go with what they see when they operate. I had bad hot flushes before the ...

Re: New here: Need advice on post chemo pain for a family fr

Hi 4Fozi,
I'm agreeing with the others.
Yes, it sounds like your friend needs to call her Doctor, or the ward where she had her treatment for advice.
It's best to check out anything that doesn't feel right.
Hope she is now over the worst.

Re: Folfox-three or six months?

Hi, this is definately a difficult decision. I took part in the Scot trial and had xelox for 4 cycles over 3 months instead of the standard 6 months treatment. It was very definitely my choice to take part in the trial, and I had found out about it before I went to see my oncologist. He mentioned th...
