Re: H1N1

I had the pneumonia shot, the seasonal flu shot, the H1N1 flu shot......right now I'm suffering horribly from H1N1. I spiked temps of 103, vomit, diarrhea, and a swear I have been coughing for 7 days straight. I'm so weak that I collapsed on the bathroom floor. This isn't to scare everyone I went wi...

Re: The stupid things people say

I've been kicking around the Colon Club for a while and have posted this before When I was in the Chemo room a woman sitting in an infusion chair yelled across the room "Why do you have hair"? I told her nicely that I had colon cancer and the Chemo thinned my hair and made it brittle. I wa...

Re: The stupid things people say

Hi Karen: When I was going through Chemo a friend called and asked me "what can I do for you". I told him that the best thing he could do was to "look after my Hubby". He arrranged a lunch date with 4 of Hubby's buddies every Wednesday at a local Pub. This became a ritual and the...

Re: The stupid things people say

My GP told me after I was recently diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocritic Leukemia ( almost 4 years after Stage III Colonrectal) that "don't worry, it is a GOOD cancer, I have a patient who lived for 14 years". I didn't hit her (showed great restraint) but I sure wanted to smack her  No...

Re: CT scan results

Belle and CRGuy: Well I might as well drop names Steve Smith (aka Red Green) and his wife Morag Smith have a group called the "Fabulous Miromars". They winter in Naples Florida and we have spent many an evening with them. They are wonderful people, fun to be with and their comedy singing a...

Re: CT scan results

Terry the nurse told me it was "small" and that the Oncologist wasn't in a "panic node". I was asked if I wanted to wait 3 months or 6 months for a repeat CT scan. We go to Florida for the winter so I decided to wait for the 6 months. I'm not on Chemo for the CLL. Chronic lymphoc...

CT scan results

Just had a 'phone call from my Oncologist's nurse. She told me that there is a "new" nodule on my lungs. I have had lung nodules since the start but this is noted as a "new" nodule. I'm scared silly  I was diagnosed with CLL (chronic lymphocritic leukemia) in May. My oncolog...

Re: neuropothy feels like-

I have an ongoing prescription for Clonezapam. Every now and again I have diarrhea, the kind where there are severe cramps and it feels as though the muscles in my stomach/bowels are contracting. When I take only 1/2 a pill and lie down for an hour or so my stomach settles down and the diarrhea gets...

Re: toilet tissue battle

I'm a wipes girl. I found that the Walmart brand (made in the US) are the best. I'm sorry if this is not ecologically friendly but after Chemo/radiation it is the only thing that I can use. :D

Julie I also have been diagnosis with arthritis post Chemo. If I am sitting I have a heck of a time standing up, I swear my knees lock. My hands hurt terribly and are really swollen to the point that I can't get my rings off. Only yesterday I was given a prescription by my Doctor of Pennsaid an anti...

Re: neuropothy feels like-

Kelly I understand your problem with "shoes". I have a heck of a time bending my foot to get into "enclosed" shoes. Then when I do get my feet into the shoes it hurts like the dickens.....it feels as though the shoes are 3 sizes too small  I'm lucky we winter is florida an...

My left-over neuropathy feels like I have tight rubber bands around my feet all the time. It doesn't hurt if I wear crocs or flip-flops. it is just darned annoying. I can't walk barefoot on the beach...it feels like when you hit your elbow....electric shock!! My hands are tight, I can't make a fist....

Re: Just met my Onc Why do they give you stats?

When I was diagnosed with Colonrectal cancerI asked my oncologists "what are my survival chances?"...she said "It is between you and the cancer and I'm betting on YOU". I have now been diagnosed with CLL (chronic lymphocritic Leukemia) There are prognostic tests that can b...

Re: When a Loved One Wants You to "Get Over It."

When I was going through Chemo my husband had a hip replacement operation. He was in "competition" for the sympathy vote. Whenever anyone asked ME how I was feeling he would chip in and give a detailed description of his aches and pains and details of his hip surgery  Now that I am in...
