Re: Reoccurance Questions/Help

Hey Tater, I am sorry to read of what you guys are going through. It definitely sounds like a unique situation, one I have not read about often on this blog. The only suggestion I have is to seek an opinion from a major cancer center. Not sure where you guys are located and how close they are to you...

Re: Positive peri met stories please

Lymph node metastasis affects a smaller amount of CRC patients. I want to say about 12% of the cases You can read of other's experiences from past posts by using the search tool under quick links on the top left of the screen. Many have referred themselves as "lymphonians", I believe. Twea...

Re: More chemo after a solitary lung met?

My wife has gone back to her original treatment after a few years of maintenance chemo, and it has appeared to work in some regard. She has also used SBRT to attack two specific para-aortic nodes. We will know more if the SBRT has worked after the holidays and her next PET scan. Everyone is differen...

Re: Positive peri met stories please

My wife is still going five years into a Stage IV diagnosis with peri-mets. Stay on top of it. Visit a major cancer center for guidance and proper protocols based on recent science, evidence and practices. Make sure you have an advocate by your side keeping track of your treatments and keeping up wi...

Re: Insurance denied husband’s genomic testing

Many Oncology sections have Nurse advocates that can help mitigate such insurance road blocks. Keep asking, appealing and getting professional referrals. Nothing is easy in this fight, but so many treatment options can opened-up for patients with special genetic profiles. Genetic testing is the key ...

Re: can you stay in oxaliplatin ?

I am sorry to read what you guys are going through. Many here have used Oxaliplatin on various occasions beyond their initial treatment. I believe the side effects are strong concerning neuropathy with Oxaliplatin, and breaks are part of the normal treatment approach. It is definitely not considered...

Re: O/T : I wish Brownbagger were here

What a wonderful reflection CRguy. As you do often, your comments tie the past to the present very well. BrownBagger was always an inspiration to read and witness here. There are many others too, who I leaned so much from by reviewing their personal journeys and posts. This blog is a gift to all and...

Best wishes this week Jep. I hope that they are successful on getting what they are looking for. WS Siti, ...As for do we have a normal life? Remember, once cancer enters a family's life, we all adjust to the "new normal" and appreciate each day. Life will never be the same like we were 20...

Re: Sigmoid + Distant Lymph Nodes

Genetic testing was inconclusive at this time. Maybe we will find out more at a later date. If you live in the Netherlands you should have access to adequate and professional care. Go to your local cancer center and they should be well aware of what the treatment protocols are for this type of Metas...

Re: Sigmoid + Distant Lymph Nodes

I am sorry to read this. This is the exact same progression as my wife, beginning in the fall of 2014. She had an aggressive treatment plan established by Dana Farber in Boston, MA. One full year of 5FU and Avastin with about 3/4 months or Oxy until neuropathy stopped it. She was then on maintenance...

Boxhill, Remember, Doctors have the ability to use off label based on their own training and experience. They can be the first one to off label use (FDA Approved Drugs) without others to follow. If Botox can be used to fight migraines, initially off label; Keytruda should be allowed if traditional m...

Re: Olymphians w/ surgery advice/experiences??

Siti, FYI, traditional Chemotherapy treatments, 5FU, Oxy, and Avasin treatments can work for several years for those inflicted with lymph node metastasis. If you are in the Netherlands, they surely have access to those treatments under your current healthcare plan. I would not suggest being a cash p...
