Hope you both ate doing well!

Thanks Amy! Ugh I was really worried for a minute. But yes, definitely the Avastin. I don't think the frosty weather here helps either!

There you go: "This includes vomiting or coughing up blood ; bleeding in the stomach, brain, or spinal cord; nosebleeds; and vaginal bleeding. If you recently coughed up blood or had serious bleeding, be sure to tell your doctor" https://www.avastin.com/patient/ovar/treatment/possible-sid...

Coughing up blood

Hi everyone, Wondering if anyone out there has any similar experience or knows anything about this... this evening Jesper (my boyfriend who has liver and lung mets) coughed up a small amount of blood. He's never done that before. He had been coughing for a long time before Christmas, like a month or...

Re: Suggestions for treatment facility for liver and lung mets

Please consider a consult with Dr. Yuman Fong at City of Hope. I've written a lot about him before, you can do a keyword search. Suffice it to say, his bona fides for liver surgery are unmatched. I've seen patients at MSK get liver resection even in the setting of multiple lung mets. But I feel a l...

Re: Suggestions for treatment facility for liver and lung mets

It’s a long flight but you’re welcome to come see my liver surgeon in Melbourne! He’s an awesome guy - has always approached me with curative intent, and has done two resections on me now (the second was pretty tricky too - deep, nudging the hepatic vein). I believe he does around 150-200 livers + ...

Re: Stage 4 hope to share

Oh, I never saw this thread before. Very interesting! I really try to do my best with my boyfriend too, in terms of diet and supplements, etc. I agree that the most important thing is keeping the weight on and staying strong enough for chemo. But I also think my bf's healthy diet has helped him a lo...

Re: Suggestions for treatment facility for liver and lung mets

I totally agree with you Alex! In our case, the oncologist wanted to get the cancer "under control" before surgery could happen - he felt that the presence of lung nodules showed the cancer was quite active and wanted a systemic treatment first. All I can tell you is that Folfiri + Avasti...

Re: Suggestions for treatment facility for liver and lung mets

It makes sense to me to treat his liver mets. So what if it isn't "curative" by itself? With those gone he can attack the lung mets. Would they prefer to wait until the liver mets grow until they DO pose an immediate problem, and then say they are inoperable after all? Forgive me, I can't...

Re: Suggestions for treatment facility for liver and lung mets

I can tell you about my experience with my first appointments. The oncologist told me surgery wouldn't be possible but my liver surgeon told me he saw potential, his exact words were he would swing for the fences for me. He was very adamant in telling me that I'd be surprised at how many people cou...

Suggestions for treatment facility for liver and lung mets

Hi everyone, I am planning our next move and thought I would ask you all for recommendations. My boyfriend Jesper is on his third infusion of FOLFOX + Avastin with a scan scheduled after the 4th. His oncologist says he expects a stable scan. I plan to send Jesper's scans to several high-volume, repu...

Re: RFA -Lung Tumour

You are under general anesthesia for the RFA procedures. I had multiple mets in both lungs. They will only do one lung at a time (as occasionally, a lung will collapse during the procedure and you need at least one lung working properly). I am not sure how many mets is too many...but because the RF...

Re: A Toast to 2020!

Juliej, What a beautiful post! You inspire so many of us and gave me so much hope when no one else really could. We are in much the same position, except for the fact that my Jesper has "innumerable" lung nodules, so I don't know what our best option is. But we are finally going to MSK aft...
