I think it depends what is causing the blockages....I had to be hospitalized via the ER over 9 times due to blockages ....my blockages were small bowel obstructions caused by adhesions from prior surgeries.Finally I had them (adhesions) lysed (cut and removed). This has helped...but they have grown ...

I have had 2 extended ileus ,one was 4 days,the other 6 days.....they are no fun....I was totally depressed. It will clear.....remember to walk,walk,walk no matter how uncomfortable. Try chewing gum. Hang in!

I am very sorry for your loss.....I've been thru it a number of times....it always tears my heart apart for weeks.I don't have kids and let my dogs get so close to me emotionally that when they leave it hurts so bad.
