Re: Need help metallic taste

The jaw spasms you mentioned could be what's know as "first bite" most people experienced this. When taking the first bite of food the jaw would feel like it locks up but then it would go away. If that's what she's feeling it's a typical side effect and will go away after the oxi is stoppe...

Re: Fellow LARS-ites, Can we talk gas?!

Not sure if it will help in your situation but when I had the blockage I would get gas and pain in my stomach. Eating blue berries worked well. It worked almost immediately.

Re: Need help metallic taste

One thing I found worked good for me was the peppermint candies. The red and white pinwheel ones. It helped with drinking water also, I would have one in my mouth while drinking. As far as eating, different things work for different people. Sauce type foods worked good for me, anything wet. Mash pot...

Re: 3 month scan ? What to expect. (Rectal)

I did 12 rounds of folfox, after the first couple of rounds I noticed a big difference, bowl movements were back to normal. At my first scan it showed about 40% shrinkage with the liver Mets, the scan wasn't a good image for the rectal tumor but I believe it's because the tumor was gone at that time...

Re: Need your hindsight! (Scared)

I've seen numerous post where people have used THC for nausea. I never tried it myself but they all said It works really good. THC gummies seem to be what people use. In my case the worse nausea I had was from constipation, after relieving that the nausea would clear up.

Re: Life insurance, anyone?

I started a policy after diagnosed. No cancer or health questions, the only real stipulation was if I die from an illness within the first two years it wouldn't pay, although all the premiums paid would be refunded. A little more pricey than I would like it's 32.50 a month for $10,000 with the optio...

Re: Intro, and please give your feedback

All it takes is a phone call. My personal experience, after my first appointment with an oncologist and colon surgeon I called Mayo Clinic. They scheduled 2 appointments the following day, they retrieved all my medical records and pathology that same day. In the morning had my first CT scan, 2 appoi...

Re: Unrelenting fatigue...help!

I experienced fatigue also after PVE, although not near that bad, but it was different than the chemo fatigue. One thing I noticed that made it much worse was Altitude. I took a trip north went from elevation 1100 to 7000 and I could hardly breath or even walk, took a couple hours to acclimate. Mayb...

Re: Family history

The 45 year age is for people at average risk, with you having an immediate family member with colon cancer that puts you at high risk and lowers the age. I would say do it, not only being high risk but more and more younger people are being diagnosed with colon cancer. The procedure is a piece of c...

Re: My CRC with liver mets journey

Just a thought here, maybe make some strategic moves, start getting all client's contact info for future employment or even a business venture on his own. Termination happens fast he may end up locked out of all access to the company with no notice. Hope it doesn't come to this but sounds like he wi...

Re: Questions, questions, too many questions.

My liver surgeon told me "you'd be surprised how many people never get surgery when it is possible". Unfortunately I find this both unsurprising and borderline criminal. If the one thing I can achieve throughout this process is that every newly-diagnosed patient with liver mets gets an ea...

Re: Questions, questions, too many questions.

I agree with robster, With my situation had it been up to my oncologist I would never of had surgery, At my second scan he told me " I know the surgeon told you surgery was possible but it's not going to happen, We'll put you on maintenance chemo after folfox". It was a different story wit...
