Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

I kept warm drinks like water, juice and lemonade in the pantry. It was my stash and the kids had to keep out of it. By round two the symptoms may start getting to be old hat. They may increase a bit by degree as you go through infusions but it sounds like you've hit on all of our favorite party fav...

Re: Feeling “NED”

This is a very mundane post but I figure it may resonate with someone here, either now or in the future. I was diagnosed stage iii with one suspicious node in March. Had a great reaction to preadjuvant chemo (trial with no chemorad) and my pathology report showed a complete response after LAR/TME. ...

Re: Reversal Thread

Bumping this thread only to report all is well. I still drink prune juice in the evenings because it had worked so well but not sure if I really need it. Other than a few minor hiccups - none of which were accidents or other embarrassing situations - all has been great. I’m not going to bump this th...

Re: 5 years ago

Congrats brother (or sister). That’s a real milestone. Sounds like you’re as cured as you’re ever going to get, and I mean that in a good way.

Re: CT Scan Just came in Liver Met (one)

Those five year rates are based on mountains of outdated data. You will want to look at them and start running a bunch of statistical brain teasers in your head. Don’t, because the statistics are skewed, and not in a positive way. It’a not a cake walk - cancer never is - but your doctors have a lot ...

Re: Age 30 (M) Recently Diagnosed, Family History

Surgeon rang me last week about my concerns, said he operates at "12 weeks, 16 weeks, 20 weeks etc" and has no concerns for me at 20 weeks, Dec 18th. Put my mind at ease for a little bit, I guess it's not an exact science and they base there decisions on what's in front of them. Still han...

Re: Just found out I have cancer

Male, 40 y/o. Had a colongoscopy yesterday, following abdominal pain and blood in stool. They found a large mass in the descending colon. Awaiting biopsy, but doc said it is almost certainly cancer. I am scared, and frightened of the future. I know I am supposed to be positive, but dont know how. H...

Re: Just found out yesterday I have colon cancer.

My tumor was medium sized. I got an appointment at MDA within a week. I can't give you more because that time was a bit of a blur. Others set the appointment for me.

Re: Just found out yesterday I have colon cancer.

My name is Ginger I’m 42 and who would’ve thought cancer at my age. I know tons of people have it younger even kids. But it is still mind blowing. So the report from my gastro is a CEA marker in my blood and it’s 3.9. The report says it’s moderately differentiated adenocarcenoma arising from villio...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

I can't speak for anyone but myself but I wouldn't have cared two licks if my ass was sticking out of my gown despite my best efforts. I promise you the nurses would care even less. They wade through shit and puss and all sorts of other nastiness every day. A couple of ass cheeks ain't going to make...

Re: Reversal Thread

Well, had my first (pun intended) crappy experience, at the World Series no less! I took my nine year old and we had good seats in a field box along the third base line. The first home run passed about 20 yards in front of us and exited the park just inside the foul pole about 30 yards away. We got ...

Re: Low rectal tumor without LARS?

Not exactly on point but I was 7 cm from the verge. 90% of my rectum was removed. I had reversal surgery on 9/25 and was back to work in two weeks. Only issue is very minor constipation. I'm fine ar work and all the other things I have to do outside the home.

Re: Recent diagnosis

Thanks! I appreciate the information. My surgeon told me when I was first dx that if he did surgery only there was a 90% chance of no local recurrence and a 50% chance of a systemic recurrence. Sound about right? If so, does a path complete response prior to surgery help with the local recurrence ri...
