Re: watching the World Cup...

I feel sorry for the socceroos up next. But no mercy - they just beat us in the hockey world cup final.

Re: watching the World Cup...

I have never understood any of the North American sports. They all seem absurd or boring or just plain incomprehensible. The standard of sports commentary in North America seems to me dismal. No intelligent analysis, just hyped nonsense, and then those ridiculous headphones. What's with that??? But ...

Re: Sex after cancer?

I think you should employ a similar technique as women do re vaginal function. I would wait a suitable period of time to let the immediate effects of radiotherapy wear off - ask your radiation oncologist, I would suggest one to two weeks. Then use a small dilator/dildo with plenty of lubrication, on...

Re: Trying to enjoy life, despite uncertainty and indignatio

It's a good question Alan, one that I am sure many of us are struggling with. I am enjoying what I suspect may be my last summer. Strangely enough, even though I feel myself deteriorating I am, well, not exactly happy clappy happy, but content enough. I really don't feel like dying and although the ...

Re: O/T .... Resiliency

Excellent article because it describes me accurately (irony alert). To reinforce Crguy's point: This whole cancer thing is an extraordinary process. There are very few situations in life that pose such a threat as cancer. To live with death, so close to it, so arbitrary and out of our control is an ...

Re: Does anything help with the coughing?

I had an awful winter with radiation pneumonitis, and my right lung is full of tumour. Ask your doctor for a codeine cough syrup. Codeine is an opiod, and is the strongest cough suppressor out there. It was a god send for me. 5mg/ml, take 5 ml as needed. It did not make me drowsy or interfere in any...

Re: Mean Boss

I suspect your experience is more common than generally realized. You would expect that the world around us will react with sympathy and compassion, but many of us have a different experience. It may just be that your boss is worried about the cost involved in having an employee who may experience h...

O/T Bear in tree

There have been some threads in the past about strange animal behaviour, and whether these behaviours are portends of death - birds flying into windows etc. This morning I awoke in my trailer (here in the bush in northern Ontario) by a furious barking of my dogs outside. Turns out there is a large b...

Re: Please no more miracle cure talks

I've had lots of "advice" how my cancer should be treated. Some the usual juicing/diet/sugar/ketogenic etc., some way way out like injecting myself with scabies pus or kerosene. One person wanted to inject me with some kind of substance that would attack all the cells in my body that were ...
