Re: Recommended Stage 1 follow up?

My schedule is: 3 month bloodwork, 6 month CT, 1 yr colonoscopy. After a year if all is well, reassess the plan. I may be having more regular CT because I had (have) a nodule in my lung that's being monitored. (So far, the pulmonary specialist thinks it's probably scarring from old valley fever infe...

Re: polyp-awaiting second opinion-colectomy vs endoscopic submucosal dissection

Hi nsog, since you have concerns and confusion as to the diagnosis and how to proceed, I would get another opinion. A bit of my story: I had a routine screening colonoscopy, during which the Dr found what he called "an area of inflammation" from which he took 3 biopsies that came back as &...

Re: Need a New Doctor

How unfortunate your surgeon has left. I would ask their office for a referral to an oncologist. I was Stage 1 also (T2N0M0) and was automatically referred to an onc. My surgeon is totally uninvolved with my after-care at this point. I have some unexplained lung nodules that they want to keep an eye...

Re: To all, old and new

Hi Nik I just want to give you a virtual hug! I don't know all that has gone on, since I can't read all the posts... but when I first started researching colon cancer after my diagnosis, and found this board, you were one of the people I noticed first. Your openness, vulnerability, and most of all y...

Re: Home from Surgery

So good you're home & recovering! I also had open surgery, it took many months for the feeling of tightness/pulling across my abdomen to go away... it still sometimes feels strange across my stomach. Do take it easy when getting up and down. It helped me to roll on my side and push myself up, ra...

Re: CEA is a stupid test

CEA isn't a marker for me either. Mine was 2.8 right before surgery, and 2.7 a month after.

Re: Every ache causes worry??

I've had a similar experience. I went from being, I thought, totally healthy to having cancer & major surgery. So now I wonder if I missed some symptoms, and regret not getting scoped sooner. I think now I'm sometimes over cautious, over noticing, over analyzing, over thinking. And trying to rem...

Re: In dire need of help....

Hi Keri It can take some time to get appetite & energy back. The first week after I was home from the hospital, I was on the low residue plan but had no appetite... Almost everything tasted "off" or spoiled. Apparently that's an after-effect of anesthetic. The only things that tasted g...

Re: High Grade Dysplasia Found

Hi DeeDeeUC! Sorry for the reason you found the boards but this is a great place to get support! I agree that getting a second opinion is essential. I did, and went with the second doctor for my surgery. So glad I did! I had my first colonoscopy in April, Dr said there was "an area of inflammat...

Re: Scans and findings?

Hi Buckeye I was diagnosed with CC at the end of April, had CT in May that showed lung nodules & liver "cysts." Nothing lit up on late May PET, even the colon tumor. My surgeon said it "probably" isn't cancer. Another CT in July showed the same nodules. Oncologist and Pulmona...
