Looks like I will be getting into a trial this next week.

If all goes well I wil start the screening process for a clinical trial at the Mayo clinical trial this next week. I am very anxious to get this going already. The trial I am hoping to get into is using two known drugs, Ixempro, a BC drug and Torisel, a Renal Cell Cancer drug. They are both FDA appr...

Re: Sometimes I think people are missing a sensitivity chip

I am so sorry on so many levels. This last month in doing pelvic radiation and going into menopause I also had to grieve that I will for sure never have a nother baby. Most people didn't understand, given my medical condition they didn't understand why I would want to have a baby, why I was holding ...

Any chance of a blockage? I have had two in the last few months and they are pretty brutal.

Re: I got offered my choice of 2 different treatments-HELP P

So tx #1 is Oxi, 5fu, ironitocan(sp ) AND erbitux all together? I don't think I have heard of all 4 drugs being used together so that really surprises me. The second one I think is farely common and effective. If I am correct they do lower the dosage of folfox so it won't be as extreme as the folfox...

Re: CA19-9?

I am a bit frustrated, I had asked my previous Onc about it a year ago because CEA has never been a good marker for me. He blew me off saying that by checking other markers could just be a wild goose chase and he would rather just use scans. I guess at Mayo, CA 19-9 and CEA is standard blood work fo...

Re: rectal cancer ?'s

The scan might(hopefully) show that it shrunk enough and away from the sphincter muscles that they could for sure save it. I would guess he would at least need to have a temb bag but a least he would be able to have it reversed eventually. Considering that having surgery might prevent a recurrance a...

Re: rectal cancer ?'s

Have they done scans to see how well the chemorad did at shrinking the tumor? What stage is he? Unfortunately I believe that surgery is the only real chance for a cure.

Re: This doesnt sound good

I am very sorry to here your news. I was first thought to be stage III, so going to stage IV was a huge fall but was devastating just the same. I can only imagine how that rocked your world. You are in my thoughts, get on that chemo and let that chemo fry the cancer.

Re: Anal/rectal wounds that won't heal from radiation

That sounds awful, I can't imagine having those sores two years later. Does she have another medical condition that would prevent her from healing correctly? The best thing that worked for me was aquaphor, but mine were nothing compared to what you have described. I hope you can find answers and rel...

Re: Pathology report

My onc offers it and I always accept. I have the data in a spreadsheet so I can see the tumor response over a period of time, but that's just me and I'm pretty geeky. That is such a good idea! Of course mine right nnow would be a bit depressing but I would have loved that for my first year of tx to...

Re: PORT/PICC

Oh, I cant imagine dealing with a PICC line for that long, they are such a pain in the rear! I had one for about three months and it had to be pulled once for a clot I think, and the second time for an infection.

If your wife can get a port I would definitely push for one.

Re: Pathology report

I have always been given a copy of the report a few sheets of pics from the scan showing the hot spots, and a disc with the actual scan. I, personally, find the reports very interesting to read and like to be able to refer back to them. I can go through all my scans and see how certain tumors have e...

Re: Retroperitoneal lymph nodes

I just had one show up on the CT scan to dx my blockage/colitis last week. I was just now getting around to looking up info on it when I saw your post. I will let you know if I get any good info on it.

Glad to hear you are stable and I hope you get some answers.

Re: WBC Still Low

I had to get nuelasta about 6-8 times over the last few years. The bone pain was pretty bad, but at the time I had never heard of taking Clariten for it. For me pain meds didn't do much for thebone pain, it lasted a few days usually and seemed to be worse in cold weather. I would go in for just one ...
