Re: 20 years old, extremely worried.

Regarding whether stool can look like a mass on CT, it depends. Usually not, but I don't know if you had a CT with IV and oral contrast. It would also depend on whether contrast reached the rectum. If the underlying question is -- "could I have a negative CT and still have CRC," the answer...

Re: Any Crohn's Disease or Ulcerative Colitis people out there?

Hi CAGirl -- I'm not sure there is enough data on Crohn's patients with history of CRC and their risk for recurrent CRC. But I did find this article, which tries to answer a similar question. I didn't read the whole thing (yet), but I thought I would send the link: http://www.cghjournal.org/article/...

Re: Focal Thickening of the Sigmoid Colon

Hi JustJen -- I think that the only thing I would take away from what your doctor said is that it needs further evaluation. The description about stitching is a bit unusual, but there's nothing specific about that description. A "lesion" is a generic term that means there's something there...

Re: interesting case study - my sister and me

Not to say that Crohn's is the cause in your case specifically, but it is associated with higher risk of CRC. The risk is higher for ulcerative colitis. My BFF of 30+ years has Crohn's but not cancer. I have no fam history of CRC and no history of inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's or UC), but I go...

Re: What did you tell the kids?

Thank you, NoFear32, for your wonderful post as well! I am sorry it took me so long to see it. I love hearing that life is "back to normal" and that your girls are doing well. I love the snuggling story. My little is very snuggable.

Re: What did you tell the kids?

Hi Menreeq, I am in Northern California, too. (My profile name is meant to be California Girl, not "Cancer Girl.) Berkeley. You? My girls were 3 and 6 when I was diagnosed in February. I finished chemo about a month ago (Yippee!) I felt like I did well by preparing my daughter "some peopl...

Re: Focal Thickening of the Sigmoid Colon

Focal thickening of the colon is not specific on MRI or CT and can be due to many causes, including inflammation (under which IBD, the umbrella term for Crohn's and UC, would fall into), diverticulitis, postsurgical scarring, infection, neoplasm (cancer), and many other things. The colonoscopy will ...

Took my last dose of Xeloda last night

Just finished chemo last night. Took those pills and thought to myself, ok, this is done. Now starts the watching and waiting. On the outside, I am happy for this milestone. On the inside, I wonder if I am deluding myself. I really just want to enjoy this... does one ever feel free after cancer?

Re: Tribute to my dear friend Anne - aka BeansMama

I am so very sorry to hear this news. I haven't been on the forum for a while, and so this is shocking. My love and prayers go to beansmama's family and friends, as well as to all of us here in Colon Club who feel this loss so deeply. It cuts. It doesn't make sense. And it's so unfair. Although I di...

Re ovarian cyst -- yes, resolution means it is not there in the current scan. But ovarian cysts come and go. It could be there on a later scan.

Re: Colorectal cancer surgery 11/09/17- still in hospital 11/15/17

Late reply but I was told my daughters should get their colonoscopy 10 years before my age at diagnosis -- that's 31 for them. I have no fam history or Lynch or other familial cancer syndrome per Genetic screen. The presence of these could change recommendations for first scope.

Re: Stage IIA: Chemo or not?

Hi -- I am also Stage IIA with no high risk features. I was given the same options. I asked three oncologists. My Onc recommended no chemo. Got a second opinion with a highly regarded Onc at academic center -- he said he previously would have recommended none but would be okay with Xeloda. After dat...

Re: New Member here on the forum

No harm in getting second opinion. You could also ask about lap vs open vs robotic.

I had my surgery done at Stanford and was very happy with the care I received.
