Re: Sick to my stomach and a nervous wreck

I am so sorry. My husband's roommate in the hospital after his primary resection and HAI pump installation had two different types of cancer. He had colon and prostate. But, both were caught early and he had a good outlook on his future. So hopefully for you yours was caught early as well. And defin...

Re: Chemo at stage 3 or not?

Dear All To answer your questions. My final pathology was the following - T3, N1, M0. The cells from the tumour were moderately differentiated and there was no EMVI (Extra mural vascular invasion). The tumour had invaded the muscular wall by 2mm but not the outside wall. And yes as you know there w...

Re: Blindsided- new here stage 4

Wow. Read your signature so I see he had a resection. Thats great. I dont get that my doctors are concerned by my lung met either which doesn't sit right with me but seems rather common. I havent asked for stats....just too upsetting as it is right now but you are right that there is room for hope....

Re: Blindsided- new here stage 4

Have you had a 2nd opinion with a liver surgeon? If I am reading this right I don't see that you have. No, I wasn't able to find one locally but I am going to ask at the next visit for a referral to one. I don't live too far from Mayo so maybe that is the most feasible answer. They told me that my ...

Re: CRC with one small liver met, low CEA

I am wondering why Dr. DeMatteo or Dr. Garcia at Sloane did not mention the HAI pump. I am thinking because the liver met was so small - he said it was about a centimeter and a 1/2. We are seeing Dr. Won now but from what I understand they work as a team and my husband's treatment was decided by co...

Re: Traveling for surgery

My husband travelled from Texas to NY for treatment at MSKCC. He will continue to travel there monthly for treatments, and have systemic chemo here at home once a month as well. We live right down the road from MD Anderson, but it was not the right fit for his condition. We feel 100% positive the MS...

Re: Need help on medical report????

Would your DF consider signing something saying you could discuss medical information with her doctor? Maybe you would then be able to ask your questions over the phone or through email with the doctor but then your DF could still have her lack of info. I am not a medical professional and I am fairl...

Re: HAI Pump advice and colectomy

10-4. MSK would definitely be my first choice if MDA werent so close. I totally understand MSK surgeons are the most experienced with HAI, but the logistics are nowhere near what MDA is for us. My parents are not well traveled and neither have ever flown on a airliner. I know that seems trivial whe...

Re: What does complete response to primary for stage 4 mean?

I am genuinely surprised they are not going to remove the primary at MSKCC. For my husband, that was a given with the insertion of the pump. If you don't mind me asking, who is your colon surgeon there? My husband saw Dr. Paty and I was very very happy with his knowledge and care. We had Dr. DeMatte...

Re: What does complete response to primary for stage 4?

First off that is great that you have had such a great response to treatment. Have your live mets also shrunk? My Husband just had the pumped placed two weeks ago at MSKCC and they did indeed resect the colon after placing the pump. His tumor had shrunk, but about a month after his diagnosis (also D...

Re: Stage I to NED to Stage IV in less than a year

MsOgden, so sorry that you are going through this. Your situation sounds strange to me. Are they sure that this is cancer and not related somehow to your h pylori? It seems strange that your CEA is normal with cancer in your liver. Liver involvement seems to be one of the things that causes CEA to ...

Re: Stage I to NED to Stage IV in less than a year

My husband saw Dr. Aloia (liver surgeon) at MD Anderson. We were not impressed. He gave us very little reason to be hopeful. My husband is stage 4, with multiple lesions throughout his liver. He really gave us no other options besides chemo to try and shrink the tumors but he said the chances of tha...

Re: HAI Pump advice and colectomy

Thank you all for your responses! My husband is fairly active, only 37 yrs old. He is healthy otherwise (if you don't count the stage IV colon cancer. ). Right now we are planning to stay for about 2 weeks. We can extend it if needed. I might have to fly back home to relieve my mom of kid duty...

HAI Pump advice and colectomy

My husband is going to be having the HAI pump put in, have his primary tumor removed and have 2 tumors in his left lobe ablated in the beginning of December at Memorial Sloan Kettering. We are hopeful that this might work to eventually get him to be a resection candidate. As of now, he has had 5 che...
