Re: Out-And-About Too Soon?

Meatie, As a mom, I would tell my daughter to either chill, or don't talk to me. I hate to be that blunt, but you are probably driving your mother nuts about now. I never had a port, but almost 4 years ago when I had TEM surgery for my rectal tumor, there was not one stitch visible. I had no restric...

Re: Night Before Mediport Placement

Meatie, Does your treatment center have either a social worker or Nurse Navigator that you could talk to? They would probably be able to answer many of your questions and/or put you in touch with the people who can. When my mom had breast cancer, both were invaluable to our family and we did not hav...

Re: Insurance Upgrade

Meatie, You seem like neither you nor your mother understand what is really going on with your mom physically nor insurance wise. My suggestion would to collect all the reports, surgical, scan, hospital records, what ever and put them in a huge binder. Then talk with the insurance company to get all...

Re: Colon Resection + Hospital Stay Cost

My last surgery was for gall bladder and appendix. I got a complete statement from the hospital days after which very clearly said "This is not a bill". They billed my insurance and then I got the real bill. The statement was for $20,646.00. After insurance, my part was $1100.00. I'm on Tr...

Re: Blood in Stool - Symptoms

There really is not a definitive test other than a regular colonoscopy. Having one will answer all your questions.

Please don't wait!

Re: Low Anterior Resection Syndrome

I didn't have an LAR, but the longer I waited to have my gallbladder removed, the worse the diarrhea became. Had both gallbladder and appendix removed in April. The first couple of days I didn't stray far from the toilet, but since then I gave not had ONE problem at all. Both gallbladder and appendi...

Not related to cancer, but I've been on .25 mg Xanax twice a day for about 7.5 years due to anxiety. My psychiatrist has no problem prescribing..
