Re: New Here: stage 2a treatment options?

Check out my signature and I got a complete pathological response after my surgery. My ONC recommended chemo based on a T3 tumour but would stop at any time I wanted. She said it may be overkill but I am a healthy 53 year old so although chemo really sucks I will be half way through next weekend. It...

Re: 7 years Cancer Free

I agree I think most people that have good results do move on and frequent this board a lot less often. Seems that there are posters like myself that visit and get advice re treatments and what to expect but I do notice the same posters that post literally hundreds of post some are into the thousand...

Re: another newb

I also had T3 with no LN involvement
I did the radiation and chemo 5 wks and waited 6 weeks for surgery. About 15% of patients have the complete pathological response. Fingers crossed for you too.

Re: I am new here : rectal cancer stage 3

Yes it really can be overwhelming at the start. I am doing the exact same treatments as you can see by my signature. Take each day at a time and always have that goal that you are looking forward to when treatments are done. I had to give up my ice hockey when I was diagnosed since I could not risk ...

Re: TNM staging confused?????

hey Toronto Barrie here I was dx in October and been going through treatments at the RVH in Barrie. They have been great and the facility is new and modern. I don't know how they also come up with the M1 but any M is considered a stage IV. Like most have told you you need to get a complete written r...

Spent 8 hours at hospital and had ultra sound to determine why arm with PICC line was swelling I have a blood clot. So now a daily shot in my gut until chemo ends then another 2-3 months. not enough nodes or sloppy diagnosis

I am fairly new here and I have been reading alot of post that help me in my journey and what to expect based on what others have experienced. I don't want to sound ignorant but I have noticed a lot of posters are for example T3N0M0 (same as I was at dx stage IIA) and develope a met sometime after t...

Re: Newly Diagnosed

Stage IIA here also and I got a CPR but still doing the chemo. I just have gone through so much to date that if I blew off the chemo and what if????? My ONC suggested I do the chemo since my original T3 tumour would be considered aggressive and you never know if clusters of micro cancer cells are lu...

1st round of Oxi done

Was not as bad as I was expecting. I ate a big 12 inch meatball sub and choc milk about and hour before treatment. Treatment lasted 2 hours with no ill feeling at all. It is winter here so as soon as I left hospital and got outside my fingers began to tingle and my nose also. Once I got in the car i...

Re: sloan Kettering, costs, insurance etc.

since I was diagnosed back in Oct 2013 I have really come to appreciate the fact I live in Ontario Canada. I have all the treatments, scans, surgery and perscriptions without any cost to myself. My biggest expense to date has been hospital parking and ostomy supplies which are given to me for free b...

Re: New CRC screening test

FOBT is not reliable my surgeon said he could send 100 crc patients to do the test and 40% would come back positive. I had the test Jan 2012 and I was negative normal. I was ready for another test Jan 2014 but was dx with Rc in October 2013. i had a 5cm tumor and my surgeon said I probably had it fo...

Re: T3N0M0 and mets

First of all, you have to understand that cancer does spread by lymph nodes AND by the bloodstream. I have a friend who lurks here....originally dxd stage I, no positive lymph nodes and yet she now has lung mets. To this day there still are no known lymph nodes that light up on a PET or that are enl...

Re: T3N0M0 and mets

kiwi Yes anything to reduce the odds is something to look at. I too enjoy working out and not so much strength training but more cardio. Afterall the heart is THE most important muscle in the body. Saying that I was alean 192 lbs before surgery on a 6'4" frame with a healthy BMI. My problem is ...

Re: T3N0M0 and mets

Kiwi for sure I believe that exercise and diet are so important. But saying that I was already extremely fit at diagnosis. i ride a bike thousands of km's a summer, play ice hockey and visit the gym 3-4 times a week. I don't drink, smoke or have any family history. Over the years I ate a lot of proc...
