Re: New Here - Looking to help my dad

Sorry your dad is going through this. Were any scans done prior to the surgery? CT/PET? I had two 3.2cm lessions in my liver that came up during a CT scan. A PET scan was subsequently done and showed no activity in those lessions. The liver specialist I was sent to did a biopsy during my surgey whic...

My diagnosis and journey.

Instead of retyping everything, I figure I would just repost what I had posted on the Cancer Forums. Sorry for the length. I'd figure I would finally "introduce" myself. Dec. 19, 2012 "I had my colonoscopy today and unfortunately, I don't have good news. I have a mass in the left uppe...

Re: Stage III survival.

Vascular or lymphatic system invasion happens when cancer cells break into the blood vessels or lymph channels. This increases the risk of the cancer traveling or coming back in the future. Lymphatic invasion is different from lymph node involvement. The lymph channels and lymph nodes are part of t...

Re: Stage III survival.

My oncologist said I had a 30-35% chance of recurrence when I was diagnosed IIIB after surgery in Feb 2010. The path report also said I had lymphatic system invasion - not a good sign. Today, I was told the chance of recurrence is now down to 10-15%. I was also told my CEA has gone up from 0.8 per ...

Re: Stage III survival.

Jimswife, Thanks for bumping that thread. I did see it while lurking around here. With respect to the Colondar models, I guess is not a really good sampling of the overall population of those with stage III. It just jumped out at me that there were a disproportionate amount of deaths with those who ...

Re: Stage III survival.

Thanks everyone for responding. What has peaked my anxiety and interest in this is due to both some of the personal stories on the forum here and the updates on the bios of those who were featured on the Colondar. I was extremely surprised many of those featured had major recurrences after a signifi...

Stage III survival.

Just a question to those that may have insight on this. I've been doing a lot of reading over the Internet and especially between this forum and the Cancer Forums. One thing that struck me as a bit unnerving is what seems to be a high instance of people with stage III progressing to stage IV and ult...
