I don't know if this is normal or not, but I used to have hideous heartburn, but when I went strictly gluten free it went away. It is suspected that I may have celiac, and interestingly enough, that is a risk factor for colorectal cancer.
I was another one with a problematic port. I found out I was allergic to the chloroprep they were smearing everywhere, and the sensitive skin dressing was much better. Congratulations! You made it through the hard part ~ showing up for the surgery. I seriously considered a run for the border.... I hope you heal gently and well. Don't do too much too soon. Those ileostomies like to grow hernias, so heed all lifting restrictions.
Do it because you have to. Once you get the right products and routine down you won't have to think about it as much. I personally hated the bag, and am eternally grateful that I found a surgeon who had the expertise to reconnect my very low anastomosis. Hopefully it will be gone before you know it....
