Re: Reflux

I don't know if this is normal or not, but I used to have hideous heartburn, but when I went strictly gluten free it went away. It is suspected that I may have celiac, and interestingly enough, that is a risk factor for colorectal cancer.

Re: Chemo starting today-maybe, maybe not

I was another one with a problematic port. I found out I was allergic to the chloroprep they were smearing everywhere, and the sensitive skin dressing was much better. I ended up having the first port removed and a second one inserted. I guess that is rare, but it happened to me. Once things ironed ...

Re: The Dreaded Call

No answers, just sympathy. Such a bummer you have to deal with this again. Maybe the colonoscopy will be more cooperative than your illeostomy.

Love it! Kids are great at reminding us what we've given up (or had taken from us) along the way. Groove on!

Glad it's going well. Walking and brushing teeth make you feel so much more human. You'll know you're on the mend when you take that first shower. Take it easy, and heal well.

Re: Surgery Update

Congratulations! You made it through the hard part ~ showing up for the surgery. I seriously considered a run for the border.... I hope you heal gently and well. Don't do too much too soon. Those ileostomies like to grow hernias, so heed all lifting restrictions.

Re: Not coping with ileo

Do it because you have to. Once you get the right products and routine down you won't have to think about it as much. I personally hated the bag, and am eternally grateful that I found a surgeon who had the expertise to reconnect my very low anastomosis. Hopefully it will be gone before you know it....

Re: O/T - what's for dinner tonight?

We went out for phò. Tomorrow it's butternut squash soup. Hubs has a cold so we're doing a bunch of soups this week. Hope I don't catch it, he's been down over a week.

Re: iPad app for keeping track of chemo/symptoms

I use CareZone. You can input caregivers, appointments, take pictures of your pill bottles to add meds, it gives you reminders to take your pills, etc. Nothing specific for symptoms, but it does have a notes section that you can use for that. You can be a caregiver, and see info such as if he took h...
