Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

Stop reading negative stuff...if you want it, the internet will not disappoint. You have to think about you as you are different than everyone else. If they did not find anything on your scans in terms of metastasis it’s likely there is nothing there. i am with you on getting the treatment right aw...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

Teacher, I can only say that positive thoughts are healthier than negative ones. Having said that I totally get where you are coming from because I still have this friggin tumor intact in my decending colon. I also know that based on the first 6 months of 2017 I am lucky to be alive so I have no ch...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

Just when I think my attitude has changed I decide to read more topics on this site. It really depresses me and makes me worry. I have so many lymph nodes involved even though hey were removed- I have a lot of nerve thinking this won't spread. Should I really be optimistic? Nothing in this world is ...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

Ok I finally went to the dr about this cough. And low and behold, bronchitis. She gave me a z pack and an inhaler. I tried to call the onc to see if it's ok to take 16 days after surgery but no call back. I think I have no other choice but to take it. How the hell did I get this?

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

I will get that port even though it's a constant reminder of cancer. I am not looking forward to it. I just want to go back to work and start. I really don't want to lose my hair. I'm scared again. I have a terrible phlemy cough. Not sure if it's from surgery. My mind is going crazy. I will see a dr...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

Ok here's the update from the oncologist- I liked her. She was pushing for a port and treatment very two weeks for six months. She wants it straight into my bloodstream and said pills may not be obsorbed enough since so many lymphs were involved. I think I may break down and get the port. She said ...

Re: For Stage III's: NED for how long now?

By 2011-12, . . . Psoriasis. Congratulation on your NED status. I'm a 13 yr survivor. That word, psoriasis, caught my attention. Last summer, I was diagnosed with psoriasis. Dr was a bit surprised as I guess most people are diagnosed in there mid 20's, not their late 50's. Anyway I always suspected...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

Sorry, everyone...I am new to this so will surely make mistakes. Earlier I wrote the oncologist suggested FOLFOX for intravenous infusion. I was wrong. It’s actually an infusion of Oxaliplatin alone over the course of 12 cycles (6 months) and not the other two drugs that make up FOLFOX. The XELODA ...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

Thanks so much for the reply, Lydia. I am 48 and was angry knowing this all could have been avoided had I a colonoscopy at 40. So many younger people in this forum than the, ‘you need a colonoscopy’ crowd at 50. Damn shame for anyone to have to go through this and the waiting around is the worst. I...

Re: NEW-Scared but Positive and Optimistic! Need Help on Putting Things into Perspective...

On 10 August 2017, my colonoscopy reavealed a growth in my sigmoid colon and the Dr. expressed his confidence that it was cancer. The biopsy revealed lowest grade, non aggressive, and encapsulated variety of adenocarcinoma. The Dr. gave me a 95 percent plus prognosis for full recovey. After a blood...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

Question about post-op- I seem to have a cough- a flemy one. Is this just a result from the surgery or do I have pneumonia? The hospital should have given you an inspirometer to use several times a day. Anesthesia plus being in bed all day can cause issues with your lungs. You need to breathe deepl...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

Hi Teacher2017.....if you peek at my signature (about my hubby) you'll notice a few similarities in your situations.... (my husband and I are also both teachers)....I've learned so much from this group, but a very important point from some members that my man and I keep in our minds is chemo as an ...
