Re: Waiting almost a year after resection for first ct scan?

My first post surgery ct scan was after chemo July 2014 then yearly after that. My doctor says that in my situation is not necessary to expose me to any more radiation. I would assume that reading this board that some are scanned every three months or six months because of a higher risk of recurrenc...

Re: Cycling and cancer

I think this season will be a bit later before we start up, Still tons of snow so looking for early May start. My favorite time of year for riding is the fall with all the colours and the cooler temps. I usually put my bike away on Halloween cause then hockey season starts up. Anyways off to the gym...

Re: Cycling and cancer

Living here in Muskoka, it truly is one of the best riding regions in Ontario. Over 3000 lakes, small towns just a hub for tourist from the Toronto area. Before dx I would easily do a couple thousand km over the summer months. Can't wait to get back in the saddle. Only avid roadies can really unders...

Re: Oxiplatin peripheral neurapathy

My last treatment was July 4 still have numbness in feet, no pain. Very mild tingling in finger tips. Does no affect my daily life. Hoping it goes away soon. Doctor says it could be up to a year but whatever your neuropathy after a year is probably lifelong.

Re: Done Lurking - Surgeon Appt. Tomorrow - LAR pending

My surgeon waited six weeks before LAR Even though I was done chemo/rad the treatment is still working for up to 10 weeks after treatment. Seems weird that you have this blob of cancer inside you and no one seems in any hurry to get it out. From dx to actual surgery was four months for me.

JUST CURIOUS

When I was dx my MRI showed a T3 with no node involvement with the exception of one suspicious node. After surgery 0/24 nodes were positive. I elected to do the mop up chemo (8 rounds of Folfox). Is pathology the only way to determine if a node is positive ? I have heard of others who had positive n...

Re: 0 of 42 nodes

I agree 100%. I was 24 nodes clean and no sign of tumour. Surgeon said I had complete pathological response which I guess is the best you can hope for. I was clinically T3N0M0 with one suspicious node that I had read in my MRI report. My onc suggested I do the mop up chemo which was good enough for ...

Re: Back to work after sigmoid and rectum removal.

I thought at first I would cut you some slack. After all everyone is entitled to their own opinion and for sure the treatment they think best to fight this disease. We all are in the same huge battle and some win, some lose and some just happy for a draw. In the big picture cancer needs the expertis...

Re: Back to work after sigmoid and rectum removal.

I then started my Alkalized water, turmeric, mega doses of organic green drinks made at home and...all of the sudden at surgery nearly all the cancer was gone. I'll stay on the water ( paid 5G for the machine!) and the green drinks are a daily thing now as well as good anti-Cancer supplements. I gue...

Re: Denied, again.

When I read crap like this regarding insurance companies, I am sure glad I live in Canada. Our health care system has a lot of faults but nothing was denied and everything I needed was promptly delivered. I was dx and within a week I had a cat scan, mri and bone scan. Doctors told me my cost for all...

Re: just looking over my MRI report

So the best way to determine node involvement is after surgery when the pathology is complete. I have done a lot of reading and wonder why some surgeons do not get the minimum 12 nodes for rectal cancer surgery. Seems like adjuvant chemo is necessary if minimal nodes are retrieved because of high ri...

Re: just looking over my MRI report

I guess that makes sense. My surgeon was able to get 24 nodes all negative so way above the standard which I am happy for. So many variables regarding nodes like size, shape, density etc. Sounds like a PET scan can pick up positive nodes better than other imaging. I had a CT and MRI with one node de...

just looking over my MRI report

Doctors told me that I had no node involvement but report says the following "A mesorectal lymph node with irregular margins at the 9 o clock position is deemed suspicious. Multiple round homogenius lymph nodes within the perirectal fat measure up to 0.6cm Shortest distance of any suspicious me...
