Re: Lung mets - Coughing up Material ?

It sounds like a mucous plug. DH had a tumor semi-blocking the lower lung on the right side and you could see the mucous plugging on the CT scan. It gets impacted and gets pretty solid. he coughed up some after having pneumonia and it was pretty gross. Similar in color to what you said and had some ...

Re: Colon cancer in a lymph node

DH has had lymph nodes enlarged for cancerous reasons (a few in his lungs for a lung recurrence, some near the original location when he was diagnosed) and for non cancerous reasons (he had one in his groin enlarged for unknown reasons. It was not cancer though, it went away on its own. My DS (15) h...

Re: My CRC with liver mets journey

My DH had a lot of the same joint pain after being on chemo a while, Probably about 2 yrs into it. He saw a rheumotologist that works in the same office as his local oncologist and did all the RA testing. Some of it was elevated, and she prescribed some drugs (diclofenac and hydroxychlorquine). Both...

Re: CT found small lung nodules

4mm is so small, 2mm is almost unheard of to see on a CT scan. Did you have scan of your lungs done when you were first diagnosed to check for a baseline? DH does have on nodule, 3mm, that has always been in the same spot, always there, never changed. But then he had a new one. And it was also 3mm. ...

Re: SBRT

Also not lungs, but DH had SBRT done on his liver in Dec. 2017. He was tired, but that seemed to be his only real issue. He had 5 sessions a week for 3 weeks.

Re: Nearly 12 years, Tele-visit with Onc, CEA up

Im sorry for the not great news. Glad your brain is still cancer free though! My DH had an ablation done on his adrenal gland at the end of February. We haven't had any follow up scans (should have one here at the end of April but since we travel to NYC for them at MSKCC from Texas, that is not happ...

Re: People who know radiology Lung Lobe QUESTION

I just got a message from Dr. Kemeny about the scan concern/question I had. She says "nothing to be concerned about." GOOD! Well that must be a relief! DH has one that was mentioned over and over again as lower right lobe. Then once it said either upper or left, can’t remember. Freaked me...

Re: People who know radiology Lung Lobe QUESTION

Why don't you guys want to go to the scans? It could be an error, could be something seen and not noted in the reports. Best to send a message and ask if you are concerned.

Re: Clot-Busting in Port?

DH has had it happen a few time with no blood return. Even with the walking, laid down, tilted back, etc. they have had to do whatever the injection they do to unblock it before. It takes about 30 mins or so to work. I assume it is a major type of heparin. He’s had his port for almost 5 yrs.

Re: Small hiatal hernia

Lots of people get hernias after abdominal surgery. As long as there isn't intense pain, fever, etc with it they just leave it alone. DH has had one show up on scans for the last few years. They always note it and also note small, non obstructed bowel loop through it. It is pretty low on the surgica...

Re: Never able to be cured....I need u guys more than ever

I emphatically agree with juliej! My husband had well over 15 mets in his liver. Well scattered and in every lobe. The surgeon at MDAnderson basically told us to keep doing chemo until chemo didn't work and he died. Such bullshit. So we went to MSKCC (MDA was a 40 min trip from our house, so they we...

Re: Cea on the rise

Ok, so that is good he’s been getting the FUDR. That should keep any of the Mets in the liver from getting bigger (hopefully shrinking them. And yeah, it might raise his CEA a little due to inflammation but we are talking a few points, not thousands. He will get new blood work before chemo so make s...

Re: Seizure - New to Colon Talk

I agree on the orthostatic hypotension. My Dh had a syncope episode the day he was diagnosed and a few months ago in urgent care when he had pneumonia. Both cases sound exactly like what you are describing. I didn't witness the first one (I was downstairs with the kids while he was seeing his doctor...

Re: Hemoclip/ MRI question

Man, I have no idea if DH had those or not! I will go look at his post surgical report and see. In the mean time, I did find this info sheet on them that is interesting. It says most fall out 2-3 weeks after surgery. And you may not notice them in your stool. I guess a CT to see if they are still th...

Re: Cea on the rise

Remind me, is he working toward a liver resection? He's working toward anything that will keep him alive and kicking. These HAI doc suggested a PET and check in for systemic. Ok, sorry if I am getting this wrong, but let me recap and tell me if I am right. He has metastatic spread to the liver and ...
