Re: Radiation induced menopause

So sorry you're going through this. Not fun times, for sure. I never had another period after I started radiation, but I never had any menopause symptoms either. I was really surprised by this. My ovaries were removed during surgery. I never felt any difference. I was surprised by this, too. I later...

Re: Brain mets . . . and they're aggressive

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I would be pissed off, too! One word about sugar... remember WHY the PET scan works... the radioactive glucose goes straight to the cancer in about an hour... that's science, not Mumbo jumbo or alternative tratements. If I had active cancer, I would probably a...

Re: Surgery postponed...very distressing

I don't have any information relating to the heart condition or treatment. As far as the radiation exposures goes people being treated for cancer get regular CT scans and are exposed to far more than the 100mSV you are referencing. For example I have a CT scan every 2-3 months and have had 11 of th...

Re: Going for it - but freaking out nonetheless

I was also terrified before surgery wondering if I would wake up. I woke up in excruciating pain, but so glad I was still alive! Also, I learned prior to surgery about the ability to irrigate (a stoma enema) and wear just a bandage over the stoma. One poster on here still wore bikinis to the beach w...

Re: bleeding Months after pre cancerous polyp removed- Age 26

I am 26 years old and In January 2017 I had a pre cancerous polyp removed. I never got anymore information other than that it was pre cancerous and that I would need to be checked again in a few years. After a few weeks I started to feel better and I evem started to gain my weight back. Then out of...

Re: lower survival rate for stage 2 than stage 3?

Thanks Painintheass, do you know the percentage of OS/or 5 years survival that is added with Oxi and/or 5fu to stage IIIB RC patients? What if we add noni juice? Cheers. I don't remember, exactly. I do remember that the benefit for Oxi for IIIc was actually higher than for 5FU, but I'm pretty sure ...

Re: lower survival rate for stage 2 than stage 3?

If memory serves me correctly, the studies that showed those figures specifically stated that it was stage IIB/C (stage IIA was not included) and yes, it was because too often, those in stage IIB+ didn't get adjuvant chemo. In studies that didn't differentiate between the stage II's, it's really im...

Re: Peter Trayhurn R.I.P.

Yes, it is so sad. I found his crazy blog when I was first diagnosed and have read it fairly regularly ever since. I even went back to the beginning and read from the first post. It is often hard to understand, but the passion to survive bleeds through the jumbled thoughts. His was the only blog I f...

Re: Blood on surface of stool and very weird stool shape (help!)

The shape of your stool would be caused by the shape of the organ directly preceding it, so, that is from your hemorrhoids. You would not have "star shaped" stools from a tumor further up the colon. I had a tumor and internal hemmorroids, right next to each other but it was found with jus...

Re: T2N0Mx

Did you get the biopsy results yet? If they are still calling it a polyp rather than a tumor, it still sounds like stage I even if it is malignant. Tney called me right away once my results came back positive, and I was in the office the next day discussing options.

Re: How long?

Hi, Mum has now been told she is too frail to have her colon tumour removed. At present she is feeling no symptoms apart from being quite tired. She did ask what stage her tumour was, but no one will answer this question, she asked how long she has left but obviously this is a difficult question to...

Thanks for your reply, I really appreciate it. It made me more optimistic. I'll keep encouraging her and do my best to support her. I'm glad that helped. I know this is all so difficult to wrap your mind around. I got very depressed after I found out I did not get a complete response until my Oncol...

Re: What to expect from neoadj CAPOX ?

Cancer cells range in their response to treatment depending on how they are programmed for cell death. Cells that are programmed for cell death will die when exposed to chemo. Cells that are not programmed for cell death can actually grow during chemo and or radiation. A tumor can be a combination o...
