Re: With apologies to the Bare Naked Ladies, but...

PET scan was on Thursday. I thought I would have to drink a contrast fluid like for the CT scan but was pleasantly surprised when all they did was inject me with radioactive isotope F18. Judging from where the bed started in the scanner they were looking at both femur bones and hips in addition to t...

Re: Two-Month Postop Update

. . . Come what may, we're planning on leaving this godforsaken country behind us and returning to Italy in the new year, so that's something to look forward to. All the best for your return home, you have had an 'eventful' journey so far. Out of curiousity which country is the godforsaken one, Aus...

Hey, I remember that song, just had no idea it was Kenny Rogers.
I'll be using those lyrics when I register with the nurse on Monday for the review of my PET scan results - " I just dropped in to see what condition my condition is in"

Re: Peripheral neuropathy post chemo

I start each day with a large dose of "grin and bear it" and try to make sure that I am getting enough B12 in my diet or, if necessary, with supplements. I looked at the suggested prescription meds that mask symptoms but they all come with their own side effects and contraindications so th...

Such sad news to read here. From reading through the forum archives she always had a helpful answer or comment to share. She will be missed.

Re: Colon cancer: my treatment and side effects

Folic acid is thought to exacerbate neuropathy if taken while receiving folfox. It is an additive in many foods and can be hard to avoid. My oncologist was aware that I was taking both an iron supplement and multi vitamins during chemo but didn't have any concerns. My neuropathy didn't show up until...

Re: O/T...Post Your Pics Here

Stu, it is really easy to post pictures here. You first need to upload your photos to a picture hosting site. I used tinypic.com. You don't need to set up an account with them if you don't want to, it's free, and they have very simple instructions to guide you through the uploading and sharing proce...

Re: With apologies to the Bare Naked Ladies, but...

Thank you all for the thoughts, suggestions and the song lyrics. Truth be told, I've been Brian Wilsoning for the past four Sundays. Without the million dollars though. :) This all started when I had my pre-chemo appointment prior to round 11 with my substitute oncologist. I didn't have this dreadfu...

....and certain areas in Canada.

BTW Maggie, I just finished my lunch yogurt and gave the tub some extra scrapes just for you.
And, in case no one has said it, thanks for your posts in this thread. They do lighten my mood.

With apologies to the Bare Naked Ladies, but...

....it's been 4 weeks since you disconnected me... and I'm just not feeling it. No sense of relief that I'm done chemo, no real sense of accomplishment, just this lingering feeling there's still something wrong inside me. My post chemo CT scan was clear, but I am scheduled next Thursday for a PET be...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

Maybe I missed something but isn't imodium for the opposite of your issues right now? Now that I'm finished chemo I found that days when I don't eat salad and lots of fruit and veggies result in painfully hard poops the next day. I hope you can find the right dietary balance soon so you don't have h...
