Re: Anyone diagnosed in their 20's?

Hey Bina, I was diagnosed when I was 29. Finished chemo now for a couple of weeks and I'm hoping terribly for a long cancer free fully fullfilled life. No one that hasn't a chronic and potentially deadly illness in our age will really understand where we are coming from. I've heard some of the supid...

Re: The First day of the rest of my life...

Dear Colon Clubers, Thank you so much for your replies. I intend to keep visiting the forum and paying it forward as CRGuy said, but at the moment I really need to take a pause from cancer until I feel I've recovered emotionally. We are having a hard time still with all the side effects and getting ...

The First day of the rest of my life...

Dear colon clubbers, Just wanted to share with you that yesterday I took my last Chemo after dinner. Once I was put on Xeloda only, my quality of life as no comparison with how it was before, while receiving Oxaliplatin. I still have a number of side effects, but nothing that keeps me from smiling a...

Re: Another colonoscopy before surgery?

I second everyone else, when it comes to tissue damage after radiation. I was pretty damaged myself, having suffered a 3 degree burn in my a-hole... You should choose your surgeon wisely, and be aware of the risks involved. I in my case had a sigmoidescopy and a CT scan before surgery. It was import...

Re: What made you drop Oxaliplatin?

One more thing: If you take steroids and antihistamines for the allergic reaction it will get better. I had dexametason and Benadryl, and they worked wonders. After that I was on steroids for 4 days and I could walk on my own again. If you worry about the blood counts delayed your treatment you coul...

Re: What made you drop Oxaliplatin?

Dear lovelife789, I have dropped Oxi by my forth treatment after experiencing some major side effects and after reading about the results of the Idea trial. You can read about my journey with oxi here: http://coloncancersupport.colonclub.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=58115 I had major neuropathy from ...

Re: More chemo?

Dear Basil, I understand your dilema. If I had had a complete response I would also have trouble accepting chemo. Since the Prospect trial is somewhat new it is difficult to make evidence based decisions. But from what I've read in the forum, through the experiences of others, people who've had chem...

Re: Cancer works on the mind

I don't mean to be disrespectful or to downplay the previous comments. Hell, I still didn't had to deal with the anxiety of scans or wating for results post treatment or seeing CEA bouncing and all that crap. But bear with me if you may. I'm lucky to have been stage III when diagnosed, so I'm lucky ...

Re: Hellooo Neuropathyiiiiiiiiiii

Thank you so much for the love. It really lifts me up reading your replies. I'm finally being able to be myself a week later after my LAST Oxi infusion. This time, strangely, it wasn't so bad, although nausea and fatigue are pretty worse. I dropped all of the aprepitant, dexamethasone and Dronabinol...

Re: Survival Plan

Thank you so much for your answers. My typical blood panel includes white and red blood panels, platelets, liver and kidneys, pcr and tumor markers (CEA, CA 199). Should I be looking for something else? Anyone on MRI and X Rays instead of CT's that has any valuable insight about what one should pers...

Survival Plan

So, I'm halfway through treatment and I'm already starting to think about what comes next. I'm optimising diet and exercising everyday, that's for sure. Vegetables, fruit and whole grain. White meat from local farmers twice a week, fish a little more often. Super foods in the mix. I'm doing 5km of n...

Re: O/T ... please indulge me for a sec !

Dear CRguy.... Life is such a blessing. But. Sometimes to be the one left behind while our loved ones move forward to another state of being seems such a hard punishment for staying alive. It doesn't get any easier, we just learn to let go of our grief and sorrow to a melancholic state while trying ...
