Re: Medical Marijuana

I am using a low thc high cbd oil to help my nausea as the mess from the oncologist weren't working well. I have found it works very well and takes all of the nausea away.

Re: T3N0M0 Rectal Cancer- refuse surgery?

Colostomies are not as bad a thing as you probably imagine. Once you get used to it theya rent that bad at all.

And a colostomy is certainly better than cancer coming back and future health problems or death.

Re: Which surgery to have? (Major dilemma!)

I have FAP, familial polyposis, which is similar to MAP but with potentially more polyps. I had surgery in 2014 and had similar choices as you do. Because of the polyps already in my rectum I was advised there was a good chance that they would come back and could cause cancer if the rectum wasn't re...

Re: Just a lifer whining about being a lifer

I just finished my 28th round of Folfiri and Avastin this week. I am also on chemo for life. Sometimes it is hard to keep going through the process over and over again. My tumors have not responded to chemo well, the chemo has stopped the growth but I haven't gotten much shrinkage. Everyone's opinio...

Re: 90 year old MIL and Folfox side effects

If the bleeding has stopped and the vomiting has stopped and she is otherwise medically fine then the decision to continue FOLFOX would up to her and her oncologist. Hopefully she will be seeing the oncologist before her next treatment. Everyone responds differently to chemo but for the most part th...

Re: Stage IV lymph node question

I had stage 3 colon cancer and did 12 rounds of Folfox. 3 months after I finished I had a CT scan that showed an enlarged para-aortic lymph node. We waited another 3 months as my cea was low and the CT showed that it had grown. Did a pet scan and didn't have any other areas light up, just the lymph ...

Re: 90 year old mother in law --FOLFOX

I started FOLFOC when I was 36 years old and FOLFIRI at 37. I couldn't imagine taking either of those chemos at 90 years old. You have to wonder if she is doing it for herself or because the family want some her to or if she is doing it for the family. It f it is because of the family they should al...

Re: Radiation / j-pouch

Before my surgery when I was debating between a j-pouch and permanent ileostomy I was told that radiation would destroy the j-pouch and I would have to go back to an ileostomy if I needed radiation.

Re: Chemo delayed

When I had FOLFOX I was delayed 3 or 4 times, once by 2 weeks due to low neutrophils, mine got down to 0.69 at their lowest. the Onc ended up,reducing the dosage of the Oxy to help them improve. The biggest thing is to be careful when you are out of your house, with a 0.8 level you are extremely sus...

Re: Colectomy with bag vs without. New, need opinions

If you have FAP then you should be having a total colectomy, which removes the entire colon. This means you would have an ileostomy and not a colostomy. What the doctor Saying about having to empty the bag once a day at is not true for an ileostomy. With an ileostomy you will wear a normal size pouc...

Re: Colectomy with bag vs without. New, need opinions

I've been lurking here for a long itme but have never posted. I was diagnosed with FAP at 36 years old when I started having diarrhea and cramping. My colonoscopy revealed 100s of polyps. I had a total colectomy and rectal removal and a permanent ileostomy. I chose this because there were polyps in ...
