Re: Did you travel during treatment?

We took AMtrak from Boston to DC and spent four days there between XELOX cycles. It was actually really rough because the temperatures where in the single digits and the Oxaliplatin effects were still being felt. If you have a bag, that's the main issue. Re: Did you travel during treatment?

The big thing is probably the lack of travel insurance to cover any issues relating to the cancer when you are away. As long as you are prepared for that risk and the onc says you re okay to travel it would be fine.

Re: Foods to avoid during chemotherapy

Having done 12 rounds of folfox with oxi for all of them I will say that he should eat whatever he feels like eating. The taste of food will change, his mouth will be sore, etc so he should eat whatever makes him feel good and that he wants to eat. Getting enough calories to maintain weight is the k...

Re: Major cancer centers/insurance

But I'm going to up my LTD to 66% from 50% this enrollment season. NHMike , are you allowed to do this? Have you studied the fine print? Yes, we’ve always had the option to select 50% or 66% LTD coverage. One of my coworkers out on LTD is at the 66% level. Mike, I think she was referring to are you...

I’m from New Brunswick and I know there are a couple other New Brunswickers here. I haven’t seen any Nova Scotians yet.

Re: FOLFIRI side effects, horrible 4th tx

That could be a gall stone or something blocking a bile duct. I had a gallstone a couple years ago in between treatments and my urine was a dark orange color and my stool almost a gray color. Luckily it passed on its own in a couple days and things returned to normal. I did see my oncologist because...

Mike, what they are probably doing is comparing your photo to all of the other profile photos on Facebook to make sure it doesn’t match any other ones. The way you have it set up is also the way that most hackers do and phishing attempts are done. People will create a duplicate profile of someone el...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

I know you are trying to use fasting to control your output but could that be causing you issues as well? The constant fasting and then eating and then fasting again may be confusing your digestive system and adding to the output issues. As well your colon probably needs a steady amount of food to a...

In Canada you can take back medicine to any pharmacy regardless of where it was purchased. Not sure if it is the same where you are or not.

Your body needs protein in order for muscle and tissue to heal quickly. Not eating for long periods of time may delay the healing process.

From what I understand about modern health science, the two basic variables are genetics v. environment. Environment is an all-encompassing term for the macro environs, inputs such as water and air pollution, radiation, etc., and micro environs, inputs such as diet (with sub category of microbiome)...

Re: Stomach Cramps - 6 months after Polyp removal

I would highly doubt that a new polyp could grow to the size of blocking the bowel, or one big enough to be that size now was missed.

I just had to get the forms from HR and have my oncologist fill them out and gave them back to work. I only recently be 7 sick days per year. The disability plan requires...
