Re: Preparing to meet genetic counselor

Usually the counsellor will send a package of forms they want filled out. If that didn't happen, they ask for full health history of all family members, living and dead. So as much info as you can get on the family tree and health status/history.

Re: Question regarding surgery Lynch syn- colostomy- iliosto

I don't think the doctor can say your chances are 100%. If you look at Lynch stats that math does not make sense. You could consider getting a second opinion. I realize many Lynch patients opt to get their colon removed but unless you are sold on the idea, why not explore options? I also have Lynch ...

Re: Stretching pain post right hemicolectomy

I had that surgery and I agree with Elise: it takes awhile to feel normal. You'll feel pulling, twinges, and other weird stuff. I am almost 4 years out and I still, every now and then, feel a little twinge there. Never painful, just different. Not to worry.

Re: I am a newbie with all of this and need some help

This doesn't sound like colon cancer to me. I would start thinking along the lines of food intolerance (lactose or gluten). Don't stop with the colonoscopy - I would start doing an elimination diet where you cut one major thing out (dairy, wheat, etc) and see if symptoms improve.

I had mine out the day my bloodwork bounced back from my last chemo treatment. I couldn't wait and woulda cut it out myself if I had to. No regrets.

Re: My Oncologist has lousy reviews

I had three oncologists over time. My first one had terrible reviews because he was not "touchy feely". Well he sure isn't giving out hugs but the level of competence was unmatched - no errors ever and everything he said was bang on. My next one was very kind and got good reviews. I didn't...

Re: I'm looking for advice and help. Please!!!!!

Agree with the above recommendation the the "Anti-Cancer" book. I say avoid stress as much as possible, and exercise at least 45 mins a day. For food, it's the same advice for anyone: lots of veggies, limit sugar and meat. For supplements I take these, and have since finishing chemo: D3 om...

Re: Newbie stage 3c colon cancer

The breast cancer risk is not strong enough to consider any surgery for removal. As far as hysterectomy, well that is a strong recommendation for Lynch. I have opted not to. Quite simply, I don't feel like having surgery. It's a personal choice and I recommend you weight the pros and cons. I get the...
