Re: Stage4 Mum with Multiple Lung Mets

Interesting, so it seems like HK is more like the USA health insurance wise. But I figured if even we have a public option, surely HK would. But maybe not. $3000/month after insurance is pretty insane and most people can’t afford that. I don’t know what to tell you other than listen to your doctors...

Re: Stage4 Mum with Multiple Lung Mets

We have seen an onco today. The Onco read through my mum's report and he thinks that the lung nodules are LUNG METS. We have also check KRAS genes to see if there are more drugs can be used for targeted therapy. Finger crossed. He suggested my mum's situation is not so good, so he recommended using ...

Re: Rectal case from Hong Kong (UPDATE: Lung Met)

May I ask why your mum was against doing chemo/radiation combo? My mom's cancer has shrunk I think and pray. Becoz my mum thinks it is too early for her to take radiation after surgery in 2 months. She thinks radiation is going to loosen her muscle thus more difficult for stoma reversal later. She ...

Re: Radiation after surgery instead of before

I think radiation do take place after surgery, but it is rare for colon cancer patient to have radiation coz as u said, the colon moves around and hard to fix the location for radiation.
At least that's what I heard from Hong Kong.

Re: Lung Met = half year life?

My doctor friend (not an onco but doctor) said the report is not good. And she suggests my mum to use target therapy. In Hong Kong this is kind of a last resort...Rely worried. I do know that there are stage 4 survivors in this forum, and I hope my mum is one of them... Once target therapy has been...

Re: CEA during chemo

My mum has similar case. Her CEA dropped insignificantly from 9.9 to 7.3 after surgery, then back up to 8.0 after 2 rounds of chemo. Seems that there are lung nodules in her lungs which is rely a very bad news for my family. Hope you are doing well for the chemo as some of them said CEA sometimes go...

Re: Lung Met = half year life?

I went through the Pet Scan of my mum, which is done on April, again. There are very small lung nodules which are classified as "inactive" . The report said "several tiny inactive non-calcified lung nodules are noted at RML measuring 0.4cm, at RLL measuring 0.4cm and at LLL measuring ...

My mum is a current stage 4 rectal cancer patient. You can see my signature for what she has gone through. There are diffuse multiple lung mets and we are extremely worried. My nurse friend told me today that stage 4 lung Mets means half year of life. Never feel more desperate. Please do tell me thi...
