Re: Scan anxiety

Waiting for the results seems like forever!

I had a questionable CT scan in June, so the DR then ordered a PET scan for July. The PET was clear! That was a double worrisome wait!

I hope the DR let's you know soon your results and that gives you peace.

Re: Peripheral neuropathy post chemo

I knit and crochet. My favorite thing to knit is socks...on small needles. During chemo I could not handle the smallness. I switched to much bigger needles and started making scarfs and dishclothes. Ever so slowly compared to how I knit pre-chemo. I really think this finger exercise helped to keep f...

Re: Encouragement

Well, it took awhile to get there! Never give up. The first diagnosis the DR gives you is not always the final one. I have seen so many people go from inoperable to NED on this board! Every single one is a victory. For newbies...don't read the stats on Google. Much of it is outdated. I am very happy...

Great news! Some health care systems now have a patient portal where you can go in and get your results as soon as they are available. Best wishes to your entire family. My siblings also got screened after my diagnosis.

Down to 104 pounds. Help

No matter what I do, I can not gain weight. I am 104 pounds and 5'8". I have terrible diarrhea issues...much worse than pre chemo. I went all through chemo without a bag. I finished chemo in April and really thought by now I would be bouncing back nicely. Currently I get 1x month Sandostatin an...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

The thing that hurts me the most about finances is paying for my son's Boy Scout activities. They try to keep the prices low and do some fund raising, but it is not enough. I sent him to camp 1 week this year. I really wish I could have sent him for 2 weeks. He thinks it was his best week of camp ev...

Re: Life ins. policy...critical illness rider

Most banks in the USA require some sort of insurance policy when you buy a house. I think it is there to mostly protect the bank, but that is another place for people to get out the papers and read it over, or ask the bank if you still have a mortgage

Re: Surgery Tomorrow - 27th New Zealand Time

Thank you for the update. I was in ICU for 3 days (they had a/c there) before they moved me to a regular unairconditioned room. Yes, walking was key and trying to sit on a chair in 1/2 hour increments. About 5 days later I had tons of fecal matter come out down my legs. What a mess. They told me thi...

Always great to get such news. I noticed you met the DR 1 day after the scan so they did not leave you wondering for long, always a nice bonus. I am happy for you.

Re: The things people say to cancer patients

In October my local YMCA is starting a 12 week program for cancer patients. It is a bit of light exercise, a nutrionalist and a chance to talk with others (in perdon) who get it. I am really looking forward to it. A support group might be something to consider. You are not alone in having insensitiv...

Re: Shoulder hurts after port flush?!

Thank you MissMolly. I felt a little silly going back to the hospital, but my arm bicept, under my armpit and shoulder really hurts. The pain goes down into my wrist and my hand/fingers are tingly. The nurse told me it was neuropathy...but my other hand is fine. My only neuropathy is about 1/8"...

Shoulder hurts after port flush?!

Yesterday I had my port flushed. It was a good flush. It hurt a,little more than usual, but not too bad. By dinner time I could not raise my hand over my head to put dishes away. I went to the hospital today and she says she never heard of that and maybe I strained my arm doing another activity. I d...

Re: Dang 1cm Liver Met!

Teacher...I hope your recovery is going well after your surgery. I never had a pump. My met surgery was in my lungs and I had a VAT last summer. Then Folfox August through the end of April. My oncologist wants me to keep my port for a year. My June CT was questionable, but July PET looked good. I am...

Re: Any Stage 4 long term survivors/cured ?

Right now I am NED! I will take that for however long it lasts. One thing this board has taught me is that even if it does come back, there are success stories and lots of support. I do not think a how many years timeline is so good because it varies so much for different people. I am taking it 1 da...

Re: Low Anterior Resection Syndrome: Do you have it?

I only had my bag for a short period of time, due to infection under it. Then I went through chemo. When I first got home I did suffer from terrible, painful LARS. Plus, it just popped out, no control at all. Metamucil gave me daily runs. I now have a monthly Sandostatin shot and take up to 8 Lomoto...
