Re: Surviving radiation for rectal cancer

Reversal two weeks ago. No hernia... being abundantly cautious with lifting and carrying things. Doctor said yesterday, adamant, nothing for 6 weeks so 4 to go. I love to walk and have a great hilly hike right out my door, so many wildflowers, good for me and my dog is loving it. Adele is ahead of m...

Mike,
What kind of problems are you still having? I am two weeks out. Not going too far or too long away from house but so far so good.

Re: Surviving radiation for rectal cancer

I am happy to hear you found something that works. I went out to dinner last night, chicken Marsala. I ate some vegetables. No explosions. Today has been okay too. Not enough coming out which is scary, a little afraid to go to far . My husband took a long hike and I stayed back, didn’t want to go in...

Re: Mop up chemo experiences

So far so good. I made some poor food choices yesterday and had the runs, today sticking to what I know. I walked 8.5 K steps and played Bocce before the too rich food so that was a good day. It is so nice to just wear what I want and not have to work around the bag.

Re: Ileostomy Care

You mention losing your appetite but what about fluids? With an ileostomy it is really important that you drink more. Try setting up the fluids for a day and see how much you actually get through. Walking is good for body and mind. Keep moving and take care.

Today I think I went to the bathroom at least 8 times I think its my fault though cause I did eat some Jamaican food curry etc...and such, but still even when I eat fine this happens but not as bad. . Some days I go 2 times. It's rather frustrating and I am 6 months out. I take Metamucil at night b...

Re: Reversals Any positives?

Good news, no bathroom trips last night, bad news no bathroom trips last night. I feel something hard above old stoma site, sore. Wonder if it’s a blockage, scaring, etc? Have first follow up visit today, a conference call with PA. I will ask her. Unfortunately she can’t palpate so it’s dependent on...

Re: Anyone doing xelox and xeloda. Please help

Napping during infusion is a great way to spend the time. Dex made me hyper but unproductive. The cold sensitivity increased with each treatment which didn’t help when I experienced a hot flash. Just another notch in the cancer struggle.
Good luck.

Re: Partial bowel obstruction

CF,
What suggestions did they make at hospital? I have read several posts that suggest bringing knees to chest and rocking, have you tried that? I have always had a slow gut, so I totally get your frustration, hang in there and let us know what works.

Re: Reversals Any positives?

Well my time appears to be 11 pm to 4 am. Rough . Started the morning with sneezing, so much pollen in the air, yikes that hurt. I did get lovely bouquets of lilac for the house, some snap dragons too. Adding yogurt to my regime, try to get some healthy flora going. I got called in for jury duty thi...

Chemo is awful in many ways. I noticed my irradiated skin got bad during it, must be awful for you.
Hold tight, you are almost through it. We are all praying for you.
