Folfox-three or six months?

Has anyone ever asked and gotten their regiment reduced by their onc? I have been on Folfox for three months and it has been kicking my tail. I stay positive however have been getting slammed with side-effects. The fatigue borders on vegetative, and am also having numerous other typical junk. Most r...

Re: Totally depressed

I'm so sorry you are experiencing the rug from being pulled from underneath your feet each time. If I may introject, this too will pass. You have a plateful of unknowns; and I express caution about finishing the stories of these unknowns with negative endings. Try as hard as it is to remain psycholo...

Re: Folfox and cognitive impairment

Thanks Bev and everyone for the info. I can coast if it is temporary but would be rather bummed if permanent. Today my wife and I went out for sushi-my wedding ring slid of my finger because of losing weight and can't find it. It never has come off. I was more upset then she. This disease and treatm...

Folfox and cognitive impairment

My cognitive abilities are deteriorating and assume this is normal? I goof up people's names I've known, my typing production is pretty bad at times. I start dose number 4 this week. Sleep as been wacked hence I'm sure sleep deprivation is a factor. I try and explain clinical info as part of my work...

Re: WEED.

I had thought about it but am fearful of going stark-raving mad and developing female breasts. On another note: upon hearing of my new diagnosis of cancer, a friend of my wife offered to procure me some marijuana as she did this for her husband when he had cancer and it reportedly helped. I told her...

Re: 35 Stage IIA...has anyone not done all 12 treatments?

Normally, I say no; though there is actually a clinical trial to see if 3 months of folfox is as effective as 6 months currently ongoing and enrolling people. Many moons ago the standard was 12 months of folfox until they compared it to 6 months and found no difference in survivability. Bob

Re: I think, I guess, This is it !! Goodbye ??

I will say a prayer for you and your family. I too have a four year old that asks me if I am going to die. I suggest you do what you can do; stay in the present, take deep breaths, and know that treatment options exist. You accept life on life's terms and avoid mentally going to "pick out tombs...

Re: My CEA has been increased from 2 to 8 in 20 days, worrie

There are more brighter folks on this board then I and hopefully they will chime in. I know it must be unnerving however your first cea was just a few days after last chemo and the second one is just above normal. Hence, you have to keep your head and wait to the third and fourth. Not the most relia...

Re: One week after first chemo

Good for you. I have finished folfox #3 and have 9 more to go. Stay in the present. My experience has been unique-each of my three doses have been unique. Be careful talking about side-effects. Taken them one at a time. Expect the next one and the one thereafter to be easy as well and so on

Re: Off chemo last 7 weeks....got results today.

First, congrats on the 7 weeks off and results. I'm sure that was nice and can relate to how chemo crimps your life and spirit. I suggest expanding your holdings in your self-care tool box to include other things in addition to golf, including those things that can help transform the monster into a ...

Re: Anyone scanning this week?

Good luck to you Bev and may those scans reveal nothing but a steady state of healing.

For me, seems like the only thing I've been scanning has been the contents of my fridge. I think I have one coming up this month after chemo number 4. Bob
