It's a term to describe something that looks a certain way on a scan..
I had one on one scan after I had had a persistent cough. Then it was gone on next scan. Hoping it will still be gone on Tuesday ( next scan)

Re: CEA levels - would this trend concern you?

Would I be worried? Heck yeah.
Should you be worried? likely not.

I had some readings that were in similar range, climbing. It was really hard until I got a lower reading. Next test Tuesday, will see if I'm due for more worry or not...

Re: Much/any difference in side effects when oxaliplatin is removed

I did this - dropped ox for the last 4. This was on recommendation from oncologist at MSKCC. My onc here agreed it was a reasonable approach, especially since I'm young, just to avoid possibility of permanent neuropathy as much as possible. I was comfortable with it especially considering they had o...

Re: Safe to wait on Chemotheropy?

Glad you are getting started. We read studies basically stating that every day/week counts. I started 3 weeks post surgery. Treatment plan won't really vary from place to place, but where you oncologist will matter more is if you encounter hiccups, e.g low WBC, and how they want to adjust for that.

Re: Port Removal

I had mine out in I guess what I would call a simple operating room. They had a good amount of supplies of various sorts on hand but it was on the smaller side without a ton of equipment. One surgeon and one person to help. Because I didn't have a ride home, I couldn't have any sort of general anest...

Yup, throw everything at it is the only attitude to have! Keep at it!

Cool!
I finished chemo end of March. Got on a road bike for the first time in my life in May. Did my first century a couple of weeks ago to raise money for cancer research ... The Prouty ... Great experience!!!

Re: Low Platelet Count stopping me from Chemo- PLEASE READ & REPLY

I am so sorry to hear this. I only just read that papaya extract helps boost platelet counts. It is a natural product and can be drunk as tea - so it shouldn't be too drastic of a thing to try at such a time. Here is a link from Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) about papaya leaf extract: https://www....

Re: Mental Breakdown Today

If it makes you feel any better, there is/was a clinical trial where the medical establishment is trying to determine if 6 rounds of FOLFOX is as effective as 12 rounds. The thinking is if 6 rounds shows similar success rates as 12 then that would be the new protocol. The net is less toxic chemical...

Re: Lodging near MSK

Affinia Gardens
MSKCC has a rate negotiated with them.
We had a small suite with a tiny kitchen.
Had its quirks but all around pretty comfortable.
