Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

Hope everyone is doing well. It's been a long cold winter. The flowers have just started blooming here. A week after Easter.... We got some pretty good news - DH is cancer free right now. The lung met that we were watching has no activity on PET scan. Nothing new. He is getting 6 months of 5FU+Leuko...

Re: CTSCAN Updates for patients with lung mets

Hi, My DH also had/has lung mets. He had 9 rounds of FOLFOX + Avastin, liver/colon resection, 3 rounds of FOLFIRI then LUL resection (3 mets) and a wedge resection of his LLL (L lower lobe) 1 met. After his lung surgery we were prepared to have radiation for the one remaining lesion in his RUL, but ...

Re: Has anyone had Avastan with 5fu

My husband is about to start it after 9 treatments of FOLFOX + Avastin and 13 of FOLFIRI and Avastin. It seems like there should be fewer side effects when you take out Oxi or Irinotecan. I hope so. He needs a break.

Stage 4, sort of done chemo, wondering options

DH has Stage 4, initially Lung/Liver mets. He has had 9 treatments of FOLFOX + Avastin, liver and colon resection, 3 treatments of FOLFIRI, Lung resection, 10 treatments of FOLFIRI + Avastin. He has one 6mm lesion left in his L lung that is "too small to treat" with XRT. Met with the oncol...

Starting a new business with Stage 4 cancer

My DH is in a tough spot at work - his company was just sold and the product he developed and then sold is being marginalized. His job is probably going to be eliminated too. He is thinking about going out on his own doing consulting. I am freaking out. Health insurance is covered through my job. Bu...

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

Hi everyone, Hope you are all seeing signs of Spring. In PA the snow is gone and I am hoping to see a crocus or two start blooming soon. DH continues on chemo, will have round 10 on Wed. He is hoping to be done after the next round. He has the one lung met left. Too small for RT, bad spot for IR tre...

OT - where to find a running shirt....

My DH fortunatley is doing pretty well lately, only 2 chemo treatments left (YEA!). For a bunch of various reasons I have committed to running a few fun runs/races over the next few weeks. The first one - in 2 weeks is a run for Colon CA support, then there is a 5K, a 5 mi and a 10mi. I want to wear...

Re: Is It True Stage IV Patients Can't Get Surgeries?

RUN RUN RUN My 45 year old husband was told he was "not a surgical candidate" by his oncologist because he was Stage 4. A week later I had him at a a surgeon who could not wait to operate on him. He started with 8 liver tumors, 5 lung tumors and a tumor in his colon. Chemo got him to 5 in ...

Re: FOLFOX vs FOLFIRI side-effects

My DH has been on both. FOLFOX + Avastin x 9 treatments last spring. Worst side effect was the cold sensitivtiy and neuropathy. The neuropathy continues, seems to get worse after any type of anesthesia. He had mild nausea, helped with Zofran. By round 5 or 6, he had the chemo funk all the time. Then...

Re: Ideas for side effects with FOLFIRI+Avastin

He does get atropine and interestingly is drinking lemonade like crazy - he says it settles his stomach. Seems to be doing okay this round. It's always worse a few days after the pump comes out.

Re: Ideas for side effects with FOLFIRI+Avastin

So he has used a little mmj, seems to be doing quite well with it, but he is afraid of getting addicted... Along with steroids, emend, compazine lorazapam and immodium as needed. I will get him some lomotil and see if that's better for his diarrhea. Any little idea works. Thanks so much! It's so nic...
