Re: Update on my wife nik

It sounds like you are doing great! Nothing can prepare you for the pain, but you are past the worst! The Toradol really helps things along since it doesn't add to the fog. Lidocaine patches are also nice for the more surface pain. Happy walking and healing today.

Re: Urgent "Obamacare" (Marketplace) insurance questions

I think different states have different costs too and I've heard California is one of the cheaper ones but I could be wrong, something to check into though. Good luck on your search.

You must be a Grateful Dead fan.

This is so true. Items disguised as food are sold by the millions every day in stores. Let informed patients decide when they want to try something...

Re: Radiology DR throws snit fit, kicks me out

Excuse me, but we all know radiation can burn the shit out of body parts and everyone reacts differently. No need for your doctor to be defensive..........that was uncalled for.

I also think Dr. Chang is an A-hole and am glad he's not my doctor. This business model language leaves out the human factor and how much we still don't know.

Re: A post treatment question for women

You might want to ask your gynecologist about getting some Estrace cream to use a couple of times a week. This really helps with being able to tolerate the dilators and work your way to intercourse. In addition, keep using the moisturizer.

Hope this helps. It is a very tough side effect.

Re: The "E" word ... ENEMA

Melissa, I put about a quart and a half of water in "big red", just warm tap water, actually a little on the hot side. When I first started doing them, I used the clamp more to control the water when I was trying to hold water in longer. I do not wait for it to run clear but I do like a go...

Re: Questions about CEA

CEA is not a marker for me, 1.0 at diagnosis and now stays consistently at 0.6. My Onc orders the test anyway saying that he has seen CEA become a marker when there is s recurrence, not always, but also not that unusual. So I always have one for my follow-up appointments.

Re: VATS tomorrow

Well, I sure hope it's neither. I am in the same situation, being rescanned next month. I have some stable nodules but then one that was described as suspicious for primary adenocarcinoma. My onc says it is not a CRC met but could be a primary. The difference in appearance from what I gather is that...

Re: Newbie

Hi! I just wanted to say that I think it would a good idea for you to see an oncologist to get his or her opinion on treatment recommendations. Also, you will be finding out more from the surgical pathology report that will influence what your follow-up will be. If you haven't had a CEA blood test, ...
