Re: Undy 5000 Comes to St. Louis

I'll be there in my red boxers! Our team name is Team Up Yours! My 14 year old son is excited to hear that the Rams cheerleaders will be there. I'm happy the weather will be much warmer than last year. I would love to meet any Colon Clubber that will be there. Good luck! So cool! I have admir...

Re: Permanent Colostomy - Quality of Life

Be careful Jenny, those 60 lbs. can jump right back on him once he's able to eat again! I'm up 10 so far! :( On a serious note, when I asked my husband if he'd be okay with me going back to the bag his only comment was "what took you so long?". He hated seeing me in pain all the time. I w...

Re: Permanent Colostomy - Quality of Life

My husband had a very similar experience to NW Girl. He's had his reversal for almost two years, but it's just not working. Bad pouchitis, lost 60 lbs, etc. He is getting a permanent ileostomy back on Monday and neither of us can wait (well, can't wait until it's over...no surgery is ever fun). He a...

Re: URGENT QUESTION for a friend...

Fede -- this really has nothing much to do with your friend's situation, but it may be something for them to ask the doc about. Back in 2000, I was diagnosed with TTP/HUS. My platelet count was below 10,000 because TTP makes your platelets clog. The process they used is called plasma pheresis, in wh...

Re: Question for caregivers please extreme fatigue

It could be stress, and the change in diet (though for the better) could have knocked some things out of whack. I would definitely get your blood counts checked and see if you are maybe iron or vitamin d deficient. You need to take care of yourself, too!

Re: Seeking Caregiver Advice

Nicola...he did try that, followed all of the directions, ate what he was supposed to eat, everything. Unfortunately, it didn't work. I know it works wonders for some people, just not him. Thanks though and you are right,it will not be the end of the world.

Re: Seeking Caregiver Advice

Has Scott seen or talk to an Ostomy nurse, or maybe attend some local meeting where ostomy people meet. Usually a hospital has info on this or possible the Onc. Lee He got that information when he was first diagnosed, but since his focus was on his treatment, he never got around to going to the gro...

Re: Seeking Caregiver Advice

Thanks Hannah and Lee. I keep telling him that I am there for him and that I just want him to feel better, but again, I'm not in his situation, so I feel almost not worthy of being there. I don't know if that makes sense, but there you go. I know two friends of my parents who. Oth have either ileost...

Seeking Caregiver Advice

HI all -- I hesitate to post this here because it's not exactly related to his cancer, but I am not active at all at the ostomy boards, so I hope nobody minds. I have mentioned before that my husband is struggling really badly with pouchitis. He has tried everything from anti-biotics to probiotics, ...
