Re: Colostomy takedown or radiation first?

I'd say with the potential for radiation diarrhea and the issues to adjusting to a takedown, I would recommend keeping the ileostomy until after radiation. You may have to empty your bag a lot more and deal with hydration issues, but it seems like it might be easier to manage than doing both at once...

Re: Preventable, treatable, curable

I can't think of the words to describe how I feel about it. I did have a colonoscopy at age 48 with not even a polyp identified so I was told I would not need another colonoscopy for 10 years. I had a false sense of security as my symptoms increased (thinking it was nothing), even though in the back...

Nicola,
Does your seat have warm water? Which one is it? I've been on that site.
Thanks,

Re: Date for Liver resection

So glad you have a date and I think the surgery and prognosis sure sounds promising. Have a good time shopping.
You have picked yourself up quickly from this setback. Keeping the prayers coming your way.

Re: I need $6400 for a toilet

I want that toilet. I have been looking at toilets online too. I wonder how many of us do that, used to be travel destinations, now it's toilets. Seriously, I am flipped out about my upcoming takedown in May or June. I want something to soothe the ole behind, can't imagine repeating the butt pain fr...

Re: when do zippers stop bothering your resection scar?

Hi Kelly,
Congratulations on your results, btw. As far as zippers go, it took me about 2 months before I could handle regular jeans. I know, it seems like a long
time but it will pass quickly.

Re: Sloppy abdominal muscles

Yep, I always had a flat stomach too. At first, I thought the
bulge was a hernia, but no, it's what it is. I was surprised by
how crooked it is, guess I expected a clean straight line. Oh
well, already over it:)

I think only people who have cancer in these parts are
allowed to call it butt cancer or any other words we want to
use.

Tumor be gone! Terry, is this a primary or colorectal met? The beast sure hops around. I just want you to know your response to my post about chemo or no chemo is one of the reasons I am doing adjuvant chemo. I appreciated your frankness. It's clear you are strong and fighting. Re: Xeloda Blessing

Mind body spirit work has been a part of my treatment. I am in a meditation group and use guided imagery for healing. I also use affirmation in another healing that I do. This type of work does increase my oxygen flow and it helps to calm my anxiety. I'm glad to hear others consider this valuable. K...

Re: Sloppy abdominal muscles

I still have my ileostomy bag but can see that that side of my abdomen is going to protrude whereas the other side is flat. I don't have a navel left either. I don't know if there is anything we can do about this. I am a thin person and keeping weight on has been one of my biggest challenges through...

Diane,
That's certainly not the news I wanted to hear but a positive outcome sounds promising. Just sorry you have to go through this
again, but it will be worth it when you're NED again.

Keeping you in the light and prayers.

Re: Pet scans

I am curious about MRIs and where they stand in the testing arena. For my initial diagnosis I had a CT and a Pet Scan. Three weeks after completing the chemo/radiation I met my surgeon and that day had an MRI with and without IV contrast and with syringes of ultrasound gel inserted into my rectum, (...
