Re: Reversal surgery

My reversal surgery is done! My surgical site is very sore, but otherwise no pain. I had pain all over my abdomen when I woke up, but they gave me pain meds. My surgery lasted less than 90 minutes. I’m very comfortable in my hospital bed. I’m right next to the bathroom which is good, and my roommat...

Re: Possible for long term remission with only chemo?

From what I understand, immunotherapy is for a different mutation than what I have.

I'm still fighting and getting through one day at a time. Hopefully, I'll still be around for the breakthrough. :)

Re: Possible for long term remission with only chemo?

Thank you for the much needed pep talk.

We have a couple of things coming up and I'm trying to figure out scheduling of chemo. I definitely am pushing one session back a week.

Fun times! ;)

Re: Possible for long term remission with only chemo?

Orlar and Recruiter,

I am determined to live life as if I will be around for a very long time.

I just had a dark moment when I started this thread. But I do think the question needed to be asked.

Thank you all. :)

Re: Possible for long term remission with only chemo?

This 5th round coming up will be just before an already planned trip. Going north for oldest grandchilds hischool graduation party. So blood wrk will be taken, Avastin and one push of 5FU, no pump this time. No Oxi so I don't have side effects for the time I'm gone. 10 days of relative normalness (...

Re: New to Board - Xeloda and Side Effects

Hubby will be researching bread makers and thanks for the tip on the flour. :D Rick (hubby) loves gadgets so we now have a juicer, veggie pasta type machine, super blender for vegetable smoothies, food processor... my pantry is starting to look more like a kitchen gadget store instead of a food stor...

Re: Possible for long term remission with only chemo?

I hear you loud and clear, Robin and I echo your concerns in my head all the time but we have to keep fighting because that breakthrough can happen any day! I talked to my oncologist about Hipec and I am not a candidate for it because of my intolerance for 5FU. They use FUDR which she agreed that I...

Re: Possible for long term remission with only chemo?

Your story made me want to cry. How disheartening. My family member, who is a doctor, said that it is always a concern when they are removing cancer, that some of it could leak out during the surgery. I'm so sorry. That is why when my surgeon said he was doing open surgery, my family member (doctor...

Re: New to Board - Xeloda and Side Effects

Real brands of pasta from Europe doesn't have it, not the brands the sound Italian but really made there. I am going to make my own bread, gives me an excuse to feel the house with amazing scents, spoil my husband. Most gluten free products don't add folic acid. Corn meal has it though. But there h...

Re: New to Board - Xeloda and Side Effects

I've just recently discovered that folic acid can hinder chemo. I'm trying to cut it out but damn! There are sooooo many things that have added it to their product! I have not found a bread that doesn't have it in there. Please share if you have found one. Minute rice contains folic acid. I've stopp...

Re: Possible for long term remission with only chemo?

So you had a colon resection and everything looked good and there were no lymph nodes involved and then later it had spread to other places? Could you please go through your journey for me? After your colon resection, how long did doctors wait before they had you do CT scans or colonoscopies? How d...
