Re: Having a SCARED SILLY day

Thank you Lois and Andrea. I know that I should sit tight, that anything can happen - it's just one of those down moments. More bad news. My hubby and I feel like we haven't gotten any good news yet, so it's daunting. We're hoping that at some point we can hear something positive. Probably an unlike...

Having a SCARED SILLY day

I got new blood results from GP and in addition to steadily dropping iron counts, I now have elevated liver function. I had this 3 years ago when I had colitis related to CMV, but now that I know about the mass and potential CRC diagnosis, I am worried this indicates liver met. And maybe the elevate...

Re: New here, questions for my surgeon

Hi Del. I'm fairly new here too, and my first appt with surgeon is tomorrow (3/9). Not sure what if anything new I'll find out, but I've gotten lots of good info here already and getting more from your questions/answers on this thread. I'm 46 and can't claim to be totally fit, but I also have no his...

Re: Newbie - Preparing for Battle

Thanks Jacques. I had seen the tech terms, but not these. I fit into the stimagination really well. Especially today. I got new blood results from GP and in addition to steadily dropping iron counts, I now have elevated liver function. I had this 3 years ago when I had colitis related to CMV, but no...

Re: Silly Question on Disability or Life Insurance

Yes, I work for a local government office. Great health insurance, thank goodness, but the personnel office was somewhat lax in telling me what wasn't included and I was too lax in my own checking. Kicking myself now, of course.

Silly Question on Disability or Life Insurance

So this may be a silly question, but if I've had the colonoscopy but don't have the biopsy results yet, is there anything I can do to prep for what may be coming insurance wise? Am I pretty much out of luck from here on out due to this with regarding to getting life or supplemental short and/or long...

Re: Newbie - Preparing for Battle

I have to agree on the abdominal pain. In my case I felt pressure in exact location of my large polyp. I told my mom few times that I feel that I have a golf ball in my stomach. Hard to believe that I was actually correct. I would never imagine... I think the time until proper disgnoses is the wors...

Re: Newbie - Preparing for Battle

I too am mid-forties with a young child (boy, age 7). I am stage II and had significant pain inthe months leading up to my diagnosis and surgery, so I can tell you that pain can occur even at early stages. As others have noted, degree of penetration into the wall is what matters for staging, not ov...

Re: Newbie - Preparing for Battle

Tracy, I totally understand searching for information and trying not to obsess about it. But the simple fact is you will obsess about it. Even now, when I know what I am facing I obsess about it. I worry constantly about how my illness affects my daughter. I try to keep things as normal as possible...

Re: Newbie - Preparing for Battle

Hi Mike - wow, just out of surgery and online posting? You're good! I hope that your surgery went well and that you're comfortable. I totally agree about relying on God. I'll say some prayers that your surgery results go well and healing is quick. Hi Beans - thanks so much for your thoughts. I reall...

Re: Newbie - Preparing for Battle

Thanks everyone. I'm doing my best to keep things in focus and not stress, while still gathering as much info as possible. It's really so nice to have a place to come and be able to share concerns and questions. Thank you thank you thank you. Jacques, I did create my signature as suggested. It'll ta...

Re: Newbie - Preparing for Battle

Thanks Jaynee. I really am so glad to have found this site - the information here has already been so helpful. Too late on the not surfing the internet for survival rates part, that started after my GP and before the colonoscopy, but I think just having the ability to reach out to some people who ha...

Newbie - Preparing for Battle

Last year, after being diagnosed as anemic and a positive FIT test, my GP wanted me to have a colonoscopy. However, as a woman also suffering from very heavy menstruation, and after talking with both the Gastroenterologist and my OB GYN, I opted to wait until after having a procedure (ablation) to s...
