Re: 5 years and 5 months......

it's true we all will die of something, someday... when I walk the dogs to the park in the morning I see this little old women. She's barely 4 feet tall and she hobbles as though its impossible to bend her knees. she walks to the grocery store and back home - its about a mile each way. She says she ...

Re: Seeing a colorectal surgeon tomorrow

I'm sorry to be laughing at Voxx's expense - butt the fig newton cookie visual has me laughing hysterically. This is a bit off topic and I don't mean to shove my blog up anyone's ass, but my latest post is a humorous look at my new man, Chet. Chet is from the biobidet bliss 2000 collection. Finally,...

Re: Ezra Caldwell

every loss is upsetting... Ezra, just like Gloria were powerful and I gained hope from them. I didn't realize until I read back to the beginning of Ezra's blog that he received a complete pathological response from his pre surgery chemo/radiation - and still, the reoccurrence. I'm sitting on my deck...

SO LONG STOMA and how to avoid the NG tube

I don't want to jinx anything, but so far, this whole reversal process has been very doable. I bought lots of creams and depends and pads, expecting the worst but its been very smooth sailing once I finally got out of the hospital. True, the white, BRAT diet is boring but it beats shitting in a bag....

Ezra Caldwell

Not sure if any of you knew of Ezra from his blog, Teaching Cancer To Cry, but he was very generous with his time and talents. I would often leave very raw comments on his site and then he'd email me in an attempt to get me to stop feeling sorry for myself. This was a man who loved his life... http:...

Re: Getting the port removed

had mine taken out during my takedown. I too hated mine from the get go. I need to believe, with all my heart, that I am cancer free. Releasing the port was part of that.

"Forgot a funny one: asking friends (really good ones) about their sex life 'cause that's the closest I'll ever get again. Wish I'd had a lot more fun in the few years before Dx; it happened to be a nun-like period of time. Sigh. Wonder if that's why I got cancer ?" Can't remember if I eve...

Re: TAKEDOWN and HERNIA repair scheduled May 6th

The surgery went well! They did not use mesh. Surgeon said it was a simple procedure (?). I'm wearing my hernia belt when walking around for extra support. The hospital stay was the worst part. My bowels didn't want to wake up (typical for me post anesthesia) and they filled up with gas which was ve...

Re: Staying NED from recurrences just "Blind Luck?"

I had my reversal a week ago and I'm trying to balance living a healthy lifestyle without focusing on cancer but that being said I'm currently taking... turmeric, B6, D3, 81 mg aspirin, Omegas, milk thistle, and my latest favorite ... oil pulling with organic, high quality coconut oil. I also do a l...

Re: Why can't beer be the cure?

I love the idea of coming up with our own cure. Mine is chardonnay. and laughter. I'm going to visualize it healing me from this point forward. I'm no longer self medicating, I'm fighting my cancer with a nice okay bottle of california chardonnay. the oakier the higher the effectiveness. I'll be sur...

Re: TAKEDOWN and HERNIA repair scheduled May 6th

Thank you Lee and O Stoma Mia! I have a hernia belt so I will pack that and wear it after my surgery to try to keep everything in place. I asked my surgeon in an email if she would be using the mesh and if the hernia makes the surgery/recovery more difficult and she said it made it easier - I hate b...

Re: TAKEDOWN and HERNIA repair scheduled May 6th

thank you for commenting everyone!

Lee, 10 years and counting.. that is so encouraging!

Do you know if they used the mesh?

I read somewhere that 50% of people who have an ileostomy get a hernia, but I've read very few things about it here. maybe I'm looking in the wrong place...
