Re: Diet & survival - where are we at?

I pretty much got the same generic advice. I already had given up 95% of red meat years before my diagnosis and I've never drank alcohol. I try to eat relatively well with the naughty bits in moderation.

Re: Xeloda med concerns and timing

I took the Xeloda immediately after dinner Are you taking it every 12 hours? I.e. does this mean your morning dosage is really early in the morning? Sorry, I'm just now seeing this. I was on Xeloda for 6 months but that was 10 years ago so details are fuzzy. I definitely remember that I took it twi...

Re: Xeloda med concerns and timing

I never heard that exercise advice. I always work out at night. I took the Xeloda immediately after dinner and always wait at least an hour before working out after that so the timing just happened to work for me.

Re: Port Out...for now

We should start a thread for “things you’re glad your doctor didn’t tell you at the time”. My second liver resection had an involved margin due to proximity to the hepatic vein requiring an awkward removal, but my surgeon was confident it was just to do with the way the pathology was reported. My o...

Re: Port Out...for now

August/21 MRI results: still NED. Next one in December. Interestingly, I just realized that I could now read all of my visit notes, and discovered that from the first visit until now my oncologist's notes said Prognosis: Guarded, Treatment Plan: Palliative. I'm glad I didn't see it back then! :shoc...

Re: I'm officially 10 years NED!

Horizon, that is terrific news!!! It is great to see some old friends on here and it reminds me that i need to check in more often to help give hope for those that think it cant be done. Re: 3rd covid vaccine

I was wondering this myself. I got my vaccine a little earlier where I was treated, but it's been ten years since I had cancer.

Re: Any young, long term survivors? Need hope

Diagnosed Stave IV in 2012 when I was 49. NED since 2013 and am currently 48. Like Horizon, spent a long time being consumed by fear of cancer, but now have other fears (daily ones like everyone else) so don't log on very often. There are more of us around than you would suspect. fist bump to my pa...

Re: New to Forum and Diagnosis - Late Start to Chemo Question

Sorry you had to join us. My two cents is to stop thinking like that. Even if it did (and I'm not saying it did) worrying about it won't accomplish anything besides upsetting you. I say this as someone who would spiral out of control with worries that didn't end up happening in my cancer journey. Pu...

Re: Finally Found Out Staging: T3N2aM0. Need Help.

I was stage 3 also ten years ago. All looking at statistics did was upset me with no benefit. I took the attitude that the statistics were more for the people I saw in the waiting room of my doctor's office that looked like my grandparents and not for myself. We'll support you through this!

Re: People

I was *very* private about my diagnosis. I only told the closest friends and coworkers. There's some that still don't know I ever had cancer. I just didn't want to be treated differently than I was before.
