Re: 17 year-old suing over forced chemo treatments

I have pondered this a bit and while I am all for the rights of the individual, aren't there times when the state and individuals feel obliged to intervene? Suicide for example? Right now in our neighborhood we have the case of a 26 year old man who has been posting on Facebook about suicide. He is ...

Re: KRAS mutant and KRAS wild

Girl111, if I read your signature correctly and your dad is Duke's C1, I believe that corresponds to a stage 3 diagnosis. If that is true, there will be no treatment difference for your dad if he is KRAS wild or mutant. The mutation only matters for those who are stage 4 and drugs like Erbitux or Ve...

Re: 17 year-old suing over forced chemo treatments

Most of the people I know who would refuse chemo would not base their decision on "religious" reasons unless you can alternative health/nature lovers a religion. I am not a big advocate of chemo for solid tumors but for lymph and blood tumors it can be a silver bullet. Jake had Hodgkin's i...

Re: Mommato4boys has passed

Once again my heart breaks that someone so young is taken by this awful disease. My deepest condolences to Mark, those precious boys and all the family and friends.

Had no idea he was a Christian. Just saw that he was involved and in favor of the Netherlands law in the beginning but now is against it.

Re: Britanny Maynard

I assume that you are baiting me, jdepp? I will one final time respond to you. You seem to think that my reasoning is not sensible. Perhaps because you have not thought through the process that legalizing assisted suicide on a national level would entail. 1) Every medical school in the country would...

Nope, Kenny, 99% of the people who died. I'm not positive but I think religious and non-religious people die.

Re: Britanny Maynard

Only have a minute but need to clarify. My reasons for opposing assisted suicide and euthanasia are not primarily religious. They are concern for the well being of our society. I only stated that I can best explain the good that can come from suffering from a religious perspective. Most of my ethica...

Re: Britanny Maynard

Canadian daughter, only have a minute because grandkids are coming to spend the night! I have spoken with medical professionals who say that not hydrating someone at the end of life does not help them, and in the case of pain patches and oral meds, makes the pain killers nearly ineffective. As the b...

Re: Britanny Maynard

jdepp, I don't recall anyone saying that those like Brittany cannot orchestrate their deaths if they so choose. The objection comes because a minority want to codify it into law, forcing those in the medical profession to become complicit in their decision. The majority of physicians do not want to ...

Re: Britanny Maynard

My concern lies in the fact that as attitudes change toward these issues, ultimately care changes. I noticed a marked difference in the care my FIL got in 1991 and the care that was offered to my husband 20 years later. I had to fight to have my husband hydrated in his last days while that was autom...
