Re: Sort of good news

Good luck! Is CEA a good indicator for your peri mets? I'm asking since your primary has been removed and you don't have mets elsewhere... I don't know what to make out of my CEA.... When I was first diagnosed it was 8, now it's 1.1. My primary is still there and apparently it hasn't shrunk. Why di...

Are you getting surgery for your peri mets?

I will be. My onc first told me it was to be chemo for life. Then he decided to explore all options.

Currently, based on stable scan results and my CEA dropping, the plan is 2 - 4 more cycles of FOLFIRI, then a month off, and then HIPEC. Wish me luck.

Good luck Paola. It is certainly the right direction, and getting to surgery hopefully is great news.

Re: What do you think?

Words of support... brokenwings, this was never going to be easy, but you can do this. Modern medicine has come very far (not far enough obviously) but if those tumors are getting blood and nutrients supplied to them, then the chemo can reach them. I learned this from an oncologist recently, because...

Re: Low platelets before chemo

I second what lovelifr789 said, it can sometimes be dietary related. I usually have decent platelet counts and they dipped almost to dangerous lows when i began eating Tahini butter. I stopped and not two weeks later, they have climbed back to normal.

Re: Constipation - Drinking Water (>120 ounces)

fumaros, Just wondering if your Docs have any concerns / tested you / warned you about overhydration issues ? Cheers CRguy It was quiet the reverse, after I started, the onc told me to drink more water (i had elevated creatine levels, probably related to protein shakes) although I didn't tell him t...

Re: Stage 4 Stable ?

It is amazing to hear your good news, and that is a good dilemma to confront. Stage IV is often considered as incurable, but the longer out he is from activity of the disease then that is the goal. If those lymph nodes are removable, particularly through laparoscopy or some other not to invasive sur...

Constipation - Drinking Water (>120 ounces)

I have had chronic constipation since 2016 after my hemicolectomy. I hardly ever got relief. I also take iron supplements because I am anemic which only makes constipation worse. I take docusate (stool softner) with every meal (3 times a day), that helped but not as much as when i recently started d...
