Re: Wasn't I enough

I've hesitated updating recently. I have no problem discussing my own circumstances but have avoided updating Chrissie's situation.I just wasn't comfortable doing so. Port went in on the 30thMarch as scheduled but on Cycle 1, day 1 on the 31st it was found that the port was badly placed right under ...

Re: Oxi side effects question for those who never got better

Hello Diane
Never had anything like that.
I still have my old neuropathy.
My SO has also been recently been diagnosed with colon cancer ( lightning does strike twice).
Current practice is 8 consecutive rounds of oxi.

Re: Wasn't I enough

The definitive diagnosis is colon cancer with numerous large mets to the liver. Port is installed Monday next week and chemo commences next Tuesday. All up there will be 24 rounds of chemo, Folfox + Avastin, but the Oxi is omitted from rounds 9-16. I thought my 12 rounds was gruelling. This is in an...

Re: Wasn't I enough

Thank you all. I'd say the diagnosis is thanks to a GPs thoroughness. Chrissie has had Vasculitis for 12 years and has the blood test results going back that far. Two weeks ago she experienced persistent nausea and went to my GP's practice. The doctor ordered more blood tests . Her liver markers had...

Wasn't I enough

My SO has today been diagnosed with multiple liver mets ( too many to resect). The source of the primary is not yet known. She will be under the care of my old Oncologist and he is trying to get her fully scoped ASAP, but it is looking ugly. He is talking of cancer of the peritoneum or ovaries. Is t...

I decided long ago that if my luck ran out I'd be down to Peter Mac in a flash. This is the best place to go in Oz.

Re: OK, Kids. Come out of the closet. What do you guys do?

Don't know how I missed this one. I'm a Civil/Structural Engineer and partner with a small firm of Consulting Engineers here in Brisbane. I turn 65 this year and am threatening to call it quits at the end of the year but anybody I tell laughs at me so I may just have to keep working. Since '99 I've ...

Re: Oxaliplatin-the gift that keeps on giving

Connie A bit more research. 3% of oxi patients have kidney failure. This is never mentioned either. If I have one skill, besides being a competent journeyman structural design Engineer, is my ability to listen. People open up to me. My business partner believes that I have missed my true calling as ...

Re: Oxaliplatin-the gift that keeps on giving

My main BP medication is Coveram which contains the ACE inhibitor Perindopiril arginine. On admission for my kidney biopsy my BP read 108/52 which was abnormally low for me. On discharge it was 118/56. Not much work to do there. Bev, I intend to cut back somewhat on the protein , get some more exerc...

Re: Oxaliplatin-the gift that keeps on giving

Hello Bev Thanks for the kind words. Since last Friday I've had time to analyze my old lab reports and plan a course of action. Some things have become apparent to me but I hope that I am not joining dots and reaching conclusions that are not warranted. At the time of the first change I had dropped ...

Oxaliplatin-the gift that keeps on giving

In June 2011 I was diagnozed T2 diabetic. By most standards my level of bg control would be considered to be good. June last year my creatinine levels started to rise significantly and I was referred to a renal specialist. Because of my good bg levels it was thought that hypertension was the main ca...
