Re: Port question

Mine was taken out few weeks after first chemo round when I was declared NED, but cancer came back by 3 month check and I had to have second one put in. I know you want to put this all behind you as fast as possible, but no harm in leaving it in for a while. Just have to get it flushed every 4-6 wee...

Re: Has anyone had gallbladder removal after right hemi-colectomy?

I can't help with operation part since mine was taken out at same time as my liver resection, but I haven't missed it at all. No change in diet needed and don't notice different bathroom habits. I also had right hemi-colectomy in 2014.

Re: Finally, some good news

I'm so happy for you! Your update came at great time for me. I have many lung nodes and just started on Folfiri + Avastin. Was told chemo for life but maybe there's hope.

New Lung Mets ... VATs/Chemo advice?

I just can't catch a break. My latest scans as a follow-up to my January surgery found 9 lung nodules. One was noted way back in fall of 2014 as a watch and see (and never spoken of again). They are unfortunately scattered throughout both lungs and measure from 3 mm to 7 mm. My oncologist wants to s...

Re: When should you remove your port

I had mine taken out one month after chemo at suggestion of surgeon. He didn't say anything about infection, just said Oh you don't need that anymore. Cancer was back two months later and had to put it back in on opposite side. Not fun and emotionally draining. If I ever get NED again, I'm leaving i...

Re: My Story ... Getting little concerned now

We discussed Avastin but oncologist wanted to hold off since we were hoping to get me to surgery fast. I guess Avastin isn't great before surgery? I'm in upstate NY so we've decided to see what scan in a week shows and surgeons recommendation, but consult at MSK is definitely an option. It's hard to...

My Story ... Getting little concerned now

I've been reading this board for a while and learned so much from everyone, so thank you all. I was diagnosed September 2014 and had right hemicolectomy October 2014. Surgery went well, no bag needed. CEA was 36 at diagnoses, and lingered after surgery at 15 to 17. Started Folfox in December and CEA...

Re: Don't you wish there was a check list?

There is great treatment flow chart from MDAnderson. I'm sure it doesn't have all treatment options since everyone is unique, but is was interesting to me. I couldn't get a real link to work but here it is : http://www.mdanderson.org/education-and -research/resources-for-professionals/clinical-tools...
