Re: Immunotherapy - it's working

Just wanted to mention that I've been on Yervoy for my melanoma. Yesterday, I had treatment number 3 and though my side effects have been horrible I'm happy to report that my WBC are the highest they been since my colon dx.in 2013. I was surprised at the number of patients receiving immunotherapy at...

Re: 3 cancers- looking for positive stories

I haven't been on the board much lately as I've been battling my second cancer...melanoma. I'm doing the immunotherapy ...Yervoy ... when after my second treatment all hell broke loose. I've been bed bound for two week now...experiencing a lot of side effects. Today. I had treatment # 3 , with one m...

Re: O/T - Family Issue

Unbelievable what we must go through when it comes to family members. My suggestions would be to contact your kids teachers...if they are in school..and let them know what's going on ....telling them not to allow your kids to be picked up by your parents. I know most schools will only allow family m...

Results are in

Well, I finally saw my oncologist regarding my melanoma results. The surgeon did a larger incision on my back to get clear margins and stitched me up. This Friday those stitches will be removed. My oncologist said that my melanoma is not stage 4 since the cancer didn't metastasized to any of my orga...

Re: 2 part diet question

My thoughts would be just tell her to eat. While on chemo I lost an enormous amount of weight not because I was trying to but because I had no appetite. During chemo eat what her body is allowing, whether its ice cream, milk shakes, pudding...whatever. The only thing I could stomach was bean burrito...

Re: Survey on bad habits

I've never smoked cigarettes but tried pot and quit smoking it 35 years ago. I don't like wine and prefer a draft beer which I rarely drank. I've never drank coffee and don't care for tea. My downfall was sweets....I loved sweets. I was never overweight since being tall was to my advantage. Before c...

First...I know this is a colon board but I got that part covered also...LOL Ok...three weeks ago, I had a biopsy done on a place on my back. Just a reminder that in June 2015, I was diagnose Stage 2a melanoma. Today, I got the results from my PET and MRI and learned that I have metastatsis melanoma....

Re: Port question

I still have mine at three years...My Onc wanted to remove mine at my second year. I just couldn't justify removing it since I was never a lucky person and knew if I did my cancer would return. On Monday I had to have a PET scan and a MRI since my second cancer...melanoma might have metastasized. It...

Shingles question

Well, I am having my first bout with shingles. I guess the stress has finally taken over. I've tried in the past to get a shot but my insurance wouldn't cover it or they needed a doctor's prescription and it soon became an after thought. I've been researching all my symptoms and repeatedly read that...

Re: It's been verified!

Grouse man... thank you for the information. I have tried to do some research but have only come up with Keytruda, which is what Former President Jimmy Carter was on. I guess the scans will determine my next step. At least I have a new oncologist that I hope will will be diligent and aggressive with...

It's been verified!

On Monday, I saw my melanoma surgeon regarding my biopsy. Unfortunately, it has returned and possibly metastasized since it had spread deep into my skin. Next Thursday, I have to go in for a MRI ( for the brain and liver ) and a PET scan for everything else since melanoma doesn't care where it sprea...

Ron..

I've had basal cell cancer for close to thirty years. It wasn't until after chemo when my melanoma shown up. I'm feel there's a link between the treatment and cancer.
