Re: Right Hemicolectomy expectations

I do remember the heparin shots in the stomach. Not fun at all. :( Yep, me too. Mine were called Clexane I think and had to do it myself for a month. The first one freaked me out, rang the neighbour who is a Dr but she wasn't there, a nurse friend who wasn't there and finally another nurse friend w...

Re: Survey on bad habits

Hmm. Interesting! Didn't touch a drop of alcohol until 21. Started to drink more as the years passed until getting through half a litre of whisky in some afternoons. Stopped drinking completely just over 9 years ago. Had the odd cigarette aged 50, then started to smoke daily. (Weird age to start.) B...

Re: New member

Hang in there and best wishes. Let us know when you find out. Yep! Just found out. It is 1.5 which is good. Since my surgery they range from 1.1 to 1.9. My op was 2 1/2 years ago tomorrow, 13th. So it will be a good Friday. I'm really pleased I had the test today, I was getting quite paranoid as yo...

Re: New member

Asked my consultant and she said to do the test, won't make any difference. So went this morning. Just had a call from the surgery and she said... The results aren't there yet! Didn't really expect them to be, as the blood was taken just over 3 hours ago. So, heart pounding but false alarm. Watch th...

Re: New member

Thanks! The test is meant to be the end of May, but I'm very tempted to have it done nowish. They are only 6 monthly now. "Hugs" back. :)

Re: New member

I wish I could get rid of the constant anxiety! All I'm having in a week or so, is a routine CEA blood test. But every morning I wake up and boom! my thoughts go straight to the 'what ifs' etc. I try to keep busy and realise that everything has been good so far. Then I tell myself off for being quit...

Re: PET/CT done on Monday

Yes, waiting IS a pain. I was lucky with my follow up CT scan. I rang the surgery the day after to ask them to keep an eye out for any results and they said they had them! Was expecting about ten days. Same with the colonoscopy, I was told all ok as soon as I got off the table. But this doesn't hel...

Re: New member

Thanks. I see... I think. I certainly didn't and don't have constipation, so it must be to make the stools a bit firmer by adding fibre. As my Dr said soon after surgery, 'at least you're getting rid of it now!' Point taken. 10 days until the 2 1/2 year mark. Thanks again Nik Colon. You are a great ...

Re: New member

P.S. I do take two level teaspoons daily of something called Konsyl D. I'm not sure if it makes a difference. I just do what I'm told, usually.

Re: New member

Thanks for the replies! I'll have to do some more research and try to find out exactly what was removed etc. The surgeon said it was quite a bit as there was 4 to 5 litres of liquid backed up behind the tumour. The colon swelled to about 20cm from the normal 5 apparently. I too am not sure whether t...
