Re: Vitamin D3, What is your daily dose?

Nik. I was taking 5000 units. I stopped before my surgery. I have to ask oncologist if okay to go back. It did help. I went from 20 to 33 in 3 months. Still low but better.

Re: Chemo Question

Nik. Thanks for the info. I have bad veins also so the port sounds like it will be very helpful. They have trouble finding my veins. I will ask the doctor about possible difference in dosage.

Re: Chemo Question

Thanks for all the input from everyone. All these decisions are very stressful. So many choices and each choice has its own set of consequences. Plays with your mind and emotions. I will sit down with my oncologist and talk to him about both options.

Re: Chemo Question

Mike, if you choose Xeloda, but want to be as aggressive as possible, as a stage 3, of course you'll need to add Oxaliplatin. It can be given intravenously, but can be really hard on the veins. I can attest to the fact that it was hard on my veins via IV, but much easier via the port. If you have a...

Re: Chemo Question

Thanks for the input. The doctor said it would be on Monday. I emailed him and asked about xeloda. He responded that I could do xeloda but I would have to do oxaliplatin by IV therefore would need a port.

Re: Chemo Question

Hi Mike, I am fairly new to this forum too but I can tell you that is the exact same treatment for my DH. In the furture, they can teach someone how to remove the infusion for you after 48 hours so you don't have to always go back in the Wednesday after. Good luck and lots of prayers for you. Thank...

Re: Chemo Question

Mike, there are always options, butt 6 months of folfox with 46 hour pump is standard care. One other option you may want to investigate/discuss with onc is Xeloda instead of the pump. I never did xeloda so can't offer much of an opinion, butt use the search feature and you will find discussions on...

Chemo Question

I saw oncologist today. He wants to start Chemo on Apr. 18th. He wants to do six months of chemo with Folfox every other week. He wants to implant a port in my chest. He stated that I would go in on Mondays for six hours for chemo and then they would hook up a chemo pump to run while at home for unt...

Re: Stage 2 vs Stage 3

Thanks for all your input. Regardless of what the current stage is. It has shown me that I need to be much more aggressive in my approach toward this cancer. My first Surgeon was very lax and I was uneducated. That is now longer the case. I am upset he wasted valuable time with his lax approach. But...

Re: Stage 2 vs Stage 3

thanks Nik for the info. It is just a lot of info it can get crazy. I have not seen the oncologist yet but I will ask him about this. I am just pissed off that my original surgeon suggested no surgery and I wasted six months. But I am moving on from that and trying to educate myself on this ffing di...
