Finished Chemo treatment FolFox

I just finished 12 treatments of Folfox. I had CT Scan and all is clear. I have colonscopy end of the month. I want to thank everyone on this board that help educate me in the beginning. Based on what I learned from you. I got a second opinion and had the a LAR surgery. My original surgeon wanted to...

Re: Side effects changing as FOLFOX progresses - anyone else experience this?

I understand exactly what u are feeling. I am also on my 10th treatment. I feel like crap now for at least 10 or 11 days on each treatment. Been like that for the last 4 treatments. The neuropathy is starting to kick in also in my hands. I have not worked much in the last couple of months. The chemo...

Re: Doc wants me to do the full 12 cycles

AnnClare, I understand exactly what you are saying. I am in the middle of my 10th treatment and the hardest part for me has been the mental like u stated. I also have family members who have not acknowledged my cancer. I know it can be hard but I focus on getting better for myself. I look at the fin...

Re: LAR surgery - what to expect

I was upstaged after surgery. I went from stage 1a to Stage 3a. The evil cancer left the tumor and was in my lymph vascular system. I hope yours staging stays the same.

Re: LAR surgery - what to expect

Did your surgeon say why he could not do with a scope? The first surgeon I saw said it would have to be open because I was fat. I got rid of that surgeon. I found a great surgeon that said he could do it with a scope. I was in the hospital for three nights. The pain for me was not that bad. I did ge...

Re: Port and FOLFOX advice?

I was afraid of the port but glad I got one it makes getting chemo much easier. I am in 9th folfox treatment. The hardest part for me is the mental part. The chemo messes with my mind. I get angry and depressed but I try to remember that I am trying to kill this evil cancer. I have cold and hot sens...

Re: Rectal Cancer: Habr-Gama Watch and Wait Strategy to Avoid Surgery

I am glad to hear your watch and wait strategy is going well. It does not always go well. I tried same approach for six months and I went from Stage 1a to 3A. Each individual has to make their own decision and be comfortable with it. I pray that you continue to be NED.

Re: Mental Breakdown Today

Teresajj1, I totally understand what you are going thru. I am about to start my 8th treatment on Monday. The hardest part for me has been the mental part. When ever I start to get down and angry. I just take a deep breathe and remember my wife and kids. I want to live to grow old with my family. I h...

Chemo and neck pain

I have a quick question. I am in my seventh round of Folfox. I recently started getting neck pain probably for last 10 days. Has anyone else had neck pain due to chemo or did I just pull a muscle. I told my oncologist about it last visit but it had just started. I will ask him again on my next visit...

Re: So Confused

Marylandmaniac definitely get another doctor. I had similar experience. My first surgeon did a colonoscopy and cut out a polyp. It came back cancerous but he was convinced he got it all out and no need for surgery. He told me everything that could go wrong with the surgery. I was not comfortable wit...
